I can see why. The old model is huge. It was the one thing I was hesitant about coming from a PING hybrid.  But it flat outperformed and I got used to it VERY quickly after seeing the results.  Making it smaller may enhance the 'curb appeal'.

 

Interesting on the shaft change too.  The Cypher shaft isn't as well known as other Project X offerings and doesn't get a lot of love in fittings. But there was some weird voodoo when you put it on a Cleveland head. It just works. When I was struggling with my Hy-wood (but lacing every other club) my instructor picked up and looked it.  He commented on the light shaft and after a waggle said - 'I'd get rid of this.'  But in it's honeymoon stage it was easy to hit as my 4H and still much better than any comparable 5wood.  I just prefer an iron swing.

After looking at the in-hand photos posted in the article on here and seeing how massive the gen 2 hy-wood looked I did a little comparison of the 17* Gen 2 Hy-wood vs a Ping G430 Max 5 wood in terms of head size.  It is virtually the same - 162 vs 165cc.  The 20* hy-wood in terms of head size matches with a G430 9 wood - 147 vs 148cc.  They defiantly beefed up the head size on these and it shows in the photos.

Haven't seen anything about their release date yet.  I was a bit surprised they didn't all come out today.

CBX4 60* - 12 bounce.  That earlier demo day picture showed 56* with 14* bounce

 

Both are 2 degrees more than CBX Zipcore counterparts 🧐

The only con in my book. I just don't like glossy head clubs. But will still by the 5h on launch day and put it in play in a league round the next day.  🙂

Good find!  Looks more similar to the current model than the CBX2 looked to the Zipcore.  I thought the CBX2 was the perfect GI wedge...but immediately fell in love with the CBX Zipccore for the softer feel.  Will be interesting to see what the difference is here....

I like how it looks. CBX Zipcore looks good too. Personally I'm not in a market for new wedges, because my Zipcores are alive and kicking, and they are so good. Maybe shaft change incoming, that dg spinner launches borderline to the moon on anything resembling a full shot for me. Interested if the +2 bounce angle (compared to zipcores) goes through the whole lineup.

Or maybe I won’t.  The 5h only comes in a regular or senior shaft.  😕

 

I could try the regular and see how it works I guess.  Or order custom. 
 

I still am not sure what shaft to get anyway. The current model is so good with the Cyber shaft.  Liked it was just pick up and play.   
 

I may have to just demo/get fit instead.

I saw the Cbx4 yesterday in my local shop. Ihit the 60*. To my eye the face looked larger than Gen 1 or Gen 2 which I owned both.  But it did look nice in the fitting cart

They said the gelback on the Zipcore helped it feel softer....which it did feel better than the original and CBX2 to me. It'll be to see if these feel similar to those versions...

I'll be curious to see what they did with the size of the Launcher XL Zipcore this time around.  Last year was pretty long heel to toe. I have read its just as long as last year.  I have also read they slimmed it down to around ZX5 size.  That would be a dramatic departure if so because the prior year Launcher iron was about 1/4" longer blade than the ZX5.  Curious to see which rumor was correct.
