Buyer Wants to Return Item

I don't see a request to split a set as unreasonable, especially if the request is a fair offer for something like a 4 iron or gap wedge (extreme top or bottom of the bag, not something in the middle). Seller can always say no.  I think the reaction was more about @btran321 and his extreme arrogance in how he approaches everything on BST.

Is this that bad???  Every time I see someone list a set of 2019 PXG 0211 Irons (not often) that includes the 4i (even fewer listings), I send them a PM asking if they will take a decent offer for the 4i alone if the complete set doesn't sell within a week or 2.  I usually get a no, but nobody has ever seemed offended for me asking.  I figure the worst they can tell me is no, which is a perfectly acceptable answer.  I am kicking myself for not ordering the 4i when I bought the set.  And my stock offer has been $100 for the 4i when the entire set is usually listed for about $400 or even less, and would even consider a counter offer, but I usually just get a No even when the set doesn't sell.  Should I avoid doing this?  Does it really bother some people?

I’m with you miss0033. There were times I just needed a single iron. And I would reach out and ask. No shame in asking right. It’s either a yes or a no.

That is nothing compared to the other inquiries he made asking if a sellers would sell just the heads or shafts fin a BST post for a set of assembled irons!!!

I'd say I've received a fair amount of inquires to split iron heads/shaft and I've never been offended or thought it was an egregious ask. Most times it's someone that is adamant on a certain iron shaft and/or the profile doesn't work for them.

I would be willing to bet that the majority of people selling an assembled set of irons would not be willing to pull the shafts to sell either component. Adjustable drivers/fairways/hybrids where you can disassemble in 10 seconds, sure, but not epoxied irons/wedges.

A hair off the subject here but when i buy an item that has a problem and both the seller and i agree that i will send it back for a refund, how is it handled.....Do i send the item back and then he refunds or does he refund and then i send it back.

Agreed.   I would never even consider it unless the buyer was willing to pay a huge fee on top of the asking price (by huge fee, I mean something astronomical--far more than a shop would charge me to have the heads pulled) just for having the work done. If the buyer was willing to do that, then we could talk.

I believe you would send it back first and then the refund is issued...but I guess it is what the seller and buyer agree to for the return.
