Noteworthy that Theegala won with the S model in the bag this past weekend given he was playing the Blueprint OG blades prior, I wonder if he tested the T model as well and felt the S performed better for his swing?

BPS Seems unicorn-ish if we’re getting i210 guys (Hovland), i230 guys (Hatton), Blueprint guys (Theegala) and S55 guys (Eckroat) making the move.

Theegala was playing the IBlades prior.  The guys playing those will def be switching to the new Blueprint S/T.

I stood right next to his caddy and bag at US Open at LACC and he definitely was playing Blueprints 7-PW, I do think he had iBlades 4-6 and the i210 3 iron. I just find it interesting he went straight away from the combo and into a full set of BPS even in those scoring clubs. Jonathan Wall wrote about it and he was quoted saying:

“I’ve played a combo set of iBlades and Blueprints for seven years probably now, seven or eight years maybe even,” he said. “But [the Blueprint S] irons felt incredible just off the get-go. They feel just like my other irons. If anything, a little better, so that’s why I decided to make the switch. And I usually don’t switch, but they feel really good and it’s nice to have some validation right off the bat.”

Makes sense....I just remember seeing a WTB for him and seeing the IBlades.  That timeline that he states playing them for 7-8 years is off though....🤣

This is about the best endorsement any new irons coming out could receive…

Definitely, very exciting! Only concern of those guys above, Hovland switched at Scottish open, went back to i210's at Open Championship and stuck with i210's thru his incredible playoff run so I'll be curious to see what irons he has in the bag during Ryder Cup and the also the last few events on DP World Tour.

Never really saw pics of his BPS and am wondering if he had the soles ground like his i210s or not

Of course February has the least amount of days in it no matter what, but I thought you were trying to be slick with the least amount of sunrises and sunsets comment.  Technically, December has the day in the year with the least amount of light in the morning, and the evening.

Is the Blueprint S a testament to Ping failing on the groove technology?

They are back to less but bigger grooves instead of their "micro grooves" on i230. Im kinda shocked it havent been mentioned here as a MAJOR point. I think the smaller ones create inconsistency out on a course, Im sure they are fantastic when you placing a ball on the grass in front of a trackman, but thats not real conditions.

I think they are too thin, sometimes I have to really dig to clean them out after a shot so worried grains of dirt might not really get in deep enough when hitting dirty balls.

Besides that Ive read here pros have tried 230 with normal grooves but still not in the bags of many.

The fact they are going back makes me question it…

Micro grooves impart too much spin....that's 100% the reason behind moving away from them

I thought the knock on the i230s from pros was that they were lower spin than the i210s?

That's why it depends on who's swinging them. I haven't seen too much spin, but my swing is not a pro swing.

I'm as surprised. I thought this was going to be a new normal. I also thought TrueRoll was going to be fairly normal, too. Guess not. It's really hard to get out of companies what "failed" / didn't go as anticipated, but the good side is someone like Ping are willing to go through it.

I like my 230s, and they work for me… but as a light divot taker, that might be why.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was one of the main reasons PING went away from the OG TR grooves due to EvnRoll threatening litigation?

I still have my i230s and love them, they are considerably easier to hit high and straight in the longer irons vs. the Srixons I have.

For me, the 230s spin more than other irons I've had, but not excessively so.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
