I think a lot depends on the player's accuracy on the measured holes (last year was not a good year for her, but we still don't know what it was like on the measured holes).  Fly it into the rough and you are giving up 20 yards of roll (on average).

"+1" on @Titleist_PT23's logic.

But look at  Patty's  "222 yards measured Avg driving distance" in 2023, as thoughtfully shared by @airawan!  Must've been exceptionally wayward/ off-piste.

Congrats Patty!! I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up a bit seeing how relieved and happy she was. Great stuff.

Awesome round from Albane. Nice to see Hye-Jin and Lilia get it going also.

Not too often you see the the afternoon wave crush a course and the morning wave ride the struggle bus. Was there weather in the morning?

@woahnelly Your girl Galitsky got steamrolled by her fellow am Vinijchaitham.

Lots of clutch play despite a few wabbles. The up & downs after not getting expected relief and coming up just short on 18 were quality. The Swiss Miss worked hard to make for the upset but someone wasn't having any of that in the end, haha.

Really great interview at the end. Love it when the players are comfortable really being themselves and letting the happiness in the moment show. Worth staying up for.

Closing bogey. bogey, double bogey did not help 😔

Couldn't help to notice the amount of spectators, looked packed as opposed to some events on US soil.

Definitely. I made note of that as well. But keep in mind that American sporting events are now designed around squeezing every dollar. Football stadiums don't want fans sitting there doing nothing except cheering. They want them in lounges or luxury boxes spending money every 5 minutes.

Likewise the LPGA events are no longer centered around spectators who trudge the course for all 18 holes. They want spectators who are content to remain near the clubhouse or at a few high profile areas around the course, where there will be grandstands and corporate tents and all kinds of ways to totally lose all concept of purchase value.

Lake Nona is a blatant example. The massive grandstand behind 18 and also a smaller one along the 9th green easily hold more people than the combined numbers walking the course.

I never would have guessed this a few weeks ago. I followed Patty at Bradenton for portions of several rounds. She was still wayward. The only time she looked comfortable was Friday. That was the day without wind. Based on that example I'd say her game is still fragile but now growing in confidence.

Expect erratic results depending on conditions and set up.

What a great interview. Two of them. She's among the most thoughtful and best spoken on tour.

I rooted for Patty primarily because she putts conventional. That remains a pet peeve of mine. I'll often look at pairing sheets and pick the groups that aren't 100% crosshanded. That's increasingly difficult. I'll remember a player as conventional but when I arrive at the green...nope, they've succumbed.

The tour would be exponentially better off without as much crosshanded and without the absurdity of chipping from just off the green. It is analytics in reverse. Never fails. The first day at Lake Nona this year I saw an LPGA player throw away a shot via stupidly chipping from just off the green on #1. Somehow they think they're pros so the cool thing to do is chip. Nope, it's the low percentage conventional wisdom ignorance that has gripped pro golf for at least a half century and counting. It doesn't matter if they think they have greater opportunity to hole the shot via chipping. If they dropped 100 balls each to the same spot and supplied full effort throughout, the total strokes will be lower from putting than chipping.

This sport needs intrusion from clarity other than a launch monitor.

My field rating for this event is a mediocre 62%,way down from 74.5% last year.
My breakdown is 70% from the LPGA Priority List and 54% from the Rolex World rankings.

Good call on the tournament rating. Patty only received 46 wwgr points for her win. In '23 Lilia received 62 with her victory. Patty moved up to 27th but if she had won against last years field she may have broke in to top 20.

Will look for your rating on Singapore with the addition of Minjee and Lydia.

Agree with the interviewing, all week. I’m not too familiar with this broadcast crew but way better than what’s usually on here in the states on GC. I think it was after round three, Jenny Shin was being her wonderful sassy self but the interviewer asked her a very well informed, relevant question about her fitness and the challenges the weather presented. She perked right up and answered him thoughtfully. Thought that was great.
