Currently there are only 2 of the DUW and I'm told there is no intention of bringing anything like this to retail any time soon (if at all). It's a possible niche club that "might" have a fit with a limited number of tour players or may not fit at all.

Very curious to know what the DUW is. The mini driver looks pretty nice too. I think we’re going to see an upswing in the trend of less 3 woods on tour replaced with some sort of mini driver.

Weird we're seeing all these mini-drivers/2Ws pop up recently. I assume the players are asking for them, but you rarely actually see them in play.

If that DUW is anything like the UW that thing will be a rocket launcher!!!!! The 21 UW goes as far as a typical 19 degree hybrid and the 17 UW is in 3 wood territory. If the DUW is as hot as UWs I might just be replacing my driver 🤣

Theory on this is that as elite players as a demographic get faster and longer, they're using that 12*-16* club type off the tee far more often than long approaches than was the case even a decade ago. Mini-driver type clubs are a more useful tool in that slot than a traditional fairway wood, at least for some.

I'm assuming the 340 labeled on the Mini-driver means it's a 340cc head.

 

Callaway's current 3Ws are 171cc. Therefore, that 340cc Mini-driver head volume fits right in between the 171cc 3W and 460cc Drivers.

 

Performance-wise, I honestly don't know...

that was my exact thought, I adore my 19 UW and have always wanted a fairway wood that played like it in a stronger loft.. hopefully it isn't a cally tour only deal

I think companies are also figuring out how to make them better.  They've been around for about 10 years now in some form or fashion, but OEMs are doing a better job of squeezing driver tech into them, making them more playable from the deck, and players (on tour) have fewer reasons to play a 3 wood off anything other than the tee. The wave is coming.  Some might say it's already here.

Also they set their driver up for their one stock shot (aka a cut for 90% of guys), and only hit that shot with it... they want a second club that they hit a little shorter and stay short of trouble on a few tee shots per round, with the added benefit it is also a club they can setup to hit a draw with, instead of their stock cut. 

 

I saw Cam Young say he can also hit the Titleist 2w off the ground when he wants.  Not sure I could do that - especially with this 340cc Callaway head (assuming 340 stands for 340cc).  It was in the recent video Titleist posted of him on youtube talking through his clubs in his bag.

Driving Utility Wood, I would assume. There's also a toe-side forward weight port.

I use my 17 instead of a 3 wood. This one would be a monster

I dont hate it. if it is 340cc I think that is bigger than the taylormade mini right? Seems a little too big.. But I dont know.

DUW....at 13.5*....goodness gracious. 

 

I'd certainly think this would be a "driving utility wood". Hopefully this thing launches a little more than the Apex UW. The 17* already hits low missles.

 

And 340cc mini driver would be really nice.

The Taylormade Original One is 275cc. I have one in 11.5* set at 13.5* and it's absolutely killer. High, controllable draws all day.
