PING L8+ circa 2000

Anyone play this bag back in the day?  Just picked up a new one today on local market place.  It is so well built, and the material is some sort of waterproof canvas.  Warranty card in the pocket indicates it's from around Oct 2000.

Pretty similar to a Hoofer Lite profile.  It weighs 0.5 lbs less than the Hoofer Lite.

Had a few of these in high school and the JUCO I played at had these as well for our team bags. Used an IZZO double strap for many years and was hesitant to change to pings double strap but they did a good job with those straps!!

The L8 bag has been around since the early 80's then went away. Came back 2000's and about 5 years ago. Original one had a wooden dowl for the spine of the bag.

Let me know what you think about not having the padding on the left side for your back.  As a fellow hoofer/hoofer lite enthusiast, that and the lack of a handle above the dividers was probably what I missed most.

 

Outside of that, I quite like these functionally and the looks are hard to beat.

I also loved the Hoofer 3 — the model with the oval base. Great bags.

That's a gem!!!!  I carry 90% of the time and haven't ever found a bag better than this to carry...

What an incredible find! I carried one throughout high school in forest green. The version that released around 2015-16 was incredible as well, but that version is still very good. If nothing else, it just looks so cool for the nostalgia factor.

I still have one of those in my garage.  Hasn't seen the course in 20+ years but still in good shape.

Had a red one in my junior year in HS (1996) but it was a single strap.  My Hoofer II that I got in 1997 for my senior year was the first double strap bag I had.

I have a late eighties model, nice lightweight nylon, no legs. wooden dowel, single strap.

still a great practice bag.

if only the 4 way top was padded......

Used one in the early 2000’s.  Best bag ever.  Still have it. The wood dowel broke, somewhere along the way and the club repair guy put a new one in.  
Haven’t been able to carry a bag for years, can’t even carry a bag from the car to the proshop.  But I’m not giving it up. Has a previous set of pings in it in my golf room.

Funnily enough I just found my old red single strap one in my parents loft. It’s practically brand new as it was only used a couple of times because they brought out the version with the stand about a month later. 
 

I think it’ll be my new retro range bag. Well, if my girlfriend doesn’t freak out about yet another golf bag…
