some info: tournament used to be the ATT Byron Nelson however the event which started in 1944 has been known as some form of Byron Nelson  since the late 1960s.

Will Zalatoris had to withdraw due to back "flare up". some are blaming an overzealous schedule for someone coming back from back surgery for the injury.

This is probably a good tournament for him.  Smaller, not heavily attended, possibility of rain which could slow things down a bit.

One of the worst courses in tour. Can’t believe they associate Byron Nelson with this goat track.

The Spieth bet was placed before WillyZ withdrew, so I got slightly better numbers there.

Day is now +2000, apparently people are fading the repeat. I for one think his new comfortable fashion look, embracing middle age, is a positive. Be comfortable.

Hoge is now +1800, I guess he's getting shorter bc of the course fit.

And Im is now +2200, I guess the WillyZ withdrawal helped his odds.

Very excited to see this one!

Sports betting in general favors past returns over future potential.

Fantasy football advice - always draft younger players over old ones. The ranks are skewed.

I think in golf it's a safe floor kinda expectation. Different but similar.

Its only certain holes. I played it a week ago, a lot of holes look really nice, a lot of them dont (14, spots on 2, 16 fairway, 18 fairway near the end, etc). I was hoping they wouldn't show a lot of the crappiness on TV, but here we are. It was hilarious seeing them all panic the last month trying to get everything done.

There are rumors that they will be gutting the course 100% (greens, fairways, sloping, tee boxes, etc) kinda like the Colonial did after the tournament next year. They like the course because its open, and its great for fans -- but the shape its in isnt tour caliber due to drainage issues. Also doesnt help they moved it back a couple weeks. Look at the fringes around the green -- same thing. They need to move to the proposed Northbridge bermuda / bent greens and dump the zoysia since it cannot be managed well.

 

But yea....Invited/ClubCorp 🙄

I hope the changes to Colonial are worth it.  I heard they lost quite a few members who didn't want to pay the assessments.  I'm a Fort Worth local who still hasn't played the course.  Maybe someday...

I don't think I've heard a single comment on the condition of the course, aside from it being wet.  Usually the commentators and the players will give the course credit for being setup well.
