Kind of thought Ernie was going to take charge of this thing since he talked about having experience in the majors. Ended up not being as close as it seemed to be the first two days. Good to see DiMarco back playing good.

Easy's putter has always been streaky.  While it didn't cripple him today, he didn't make any low percentage putts to help him turn the corner.  

 

I had never paid attention to Bland's game until this week and I was impressed.

The frenzy over Bland's win on social media is kind of hilarious. I wonder how many of those so enraptured with the significance of the tournament were gushing over Steve Stricker's dramatic win last year? And not sure Richard Bland is much of a needle mover...so there's only really one other explanation for it.

Awesome win for one of the nicest men in the game. Could be the first of many senior tour wins.

Requires special invitations to all majors as he’s a LIV player 

 

Champions Tour has already announced that he’s not entitled to exemptions as a result of his win & others are expected to follow

This thread feels like it headed in the obvious direction but his starts will be minimal as he's contracted elsewhere.

 

I expect he will now play the US Senior Open (Westwood is in that too) but he won't be playing at Carnoustie for the Senior Open at it clashes.

 

Interestingly Bland wasn't originally in the field for this Senior PGA. He was exempt last year courtesy of his win at The Belfry but it clashed so he requested he could use his exemption this year.

On the subject of the Champions Tour, it’s hard to get exemptions 

 

Greg Chalmers has made 5 starts for 3 top 10s (including 3rd here), 12th and a 30th plus $400k in winnings but still needs to go through Monday qualifying for the next event

Congratulations to R. Bland.

 

He was not aware of a one-time exemption for players who have won in the last five years on the European tour.

Bland couldn’t use it last year because it conflicted with LIV Golf Bedminster. But he was able to use it this year.

I had posted this in LIV thread but thought it was also relevant in this one. For those who care about the golf, here is what I could find for Richard Bland's 2024 witb.

From the event’s photos, think he’s using a darkspeed driver, qi10 3 wood, and some sort of ai smoke 7 wood or similar.  Pretty sure his irons were tcb’s too.

I only know who he is bcs he shared the 36 hole lead at the 2021 US Open. Ended up finishing 50th.

This is the name Scottie Scheffler uses to check into hotels.

He had two wins in his entire career, one of which was in the European equivalent of the Korn Ferry Tour.

 

Honestly, I didn’t even know there was something called a Senior PGA Championship. Based on the small number of fans at the event, it seems that I’m not alone.

I just watched video of Richard Bland's swing.  It looks to be very solid.

Winning by 3 or 4 strokes in any senior tour major is no joke. Got to give the guy credit for shooting a 63 on Sunday of a major. I don't care where you play golf, I simply enjoy seeing the absolute best of the best battle it out.
