To be fair one was the US Open and one was a golf tournament in Detroit.  I don't like it when players are judged either way.  If you want to talk, talk.  If you want to process the biggest disappointment of your career before you talk, that's understandable too.

Agreed. Needs to raid Wyndham Clark's contact list. Tons of natural talent but when momentum starts going the wrong way, its a tail spin.

Not to mention the fact that Rory has done that song and dance multiple times before. What exactly did people expect to learn after the '24 US Open that they didn't already learn at the '23 US Open, '22 Open Championship, '21 Ryder Cup, '18 Masters, or '11 Masters? 

 

Feel free to roast Rory for not sticking around to congratulate Bryson, I think that's a fair criticism, but who cares if he talks w/ the media for the umpteenth time post disappointment? We weren't going to learn anything new or interesting. In fact, I can pretty confidently recreate it for those that feel like they really missed out. 

 

Q: Rory, obviously a disappointing finish, talk us through the putt on 18?

A: Just a bad stroke

 

Q: How about the putt on 16?

A: Pulled it

 

Q: Did the miss on 16 effect the putt on 18?

A: Probably

 

Q: How disappointing is this result?

A: As bad or worse than LACC and St Andrews

 

Q: Last year you said you go through 100 Sundays like that if that's what it take to get another major, do you still feel that way?

A: Yeah, but hopefully not 99 more

No hate on Bhatia at all...but get back to us when he's had 10 years of major heartbreak...just missed a couple of short putts on the final couple of holes of the US Open, and wasn't in the final group...and still sticks around.

He strikes me as very millennial. I'm happy he's as "hard" as he is. I dunno maybe that's a better way to be than slamming clubs and going deep.

I think he will win a ton, but there will also be close losses. Time will tell if there's a pattern to it of overcoming or opting out.

The fact that it happened so quickly there at the end is, I think, a good thing.  He didn’t have to go through the torture of a slow collapse, with multiple mistakes.  He can look back on this for what it was, a couple of bad putts.  Nothing more. He’s playing really good golf and knows it.  I’ll bet his over it already.

Akshay Batia's' shoulders got a little tight on Sunday but he'll be okay.

 

He's still fun to watch. If he keeps putting himself in position on the back nine on Sunday, he'll win his share.
