Boxes For Golf Clubs (shipping). Where do you get yours?

I assume a lot of you sell clubs on line, like I do. Where do you get all the boxes to ship your clubs out? For the most part, I just get Priority boxes free at the USPS. Lately, however, they have not been very stocked on them. Let me know where you get your boxes. Do you pay for them? How many do you usually get? :man_in_love:

Most of mine come from buying other clubs, but on the rare occasion that I downsize my arsenal, I usually go to a local shop and they are pretty willing to part with as many as I need.

I keep them sometimes or I go to a golf shop and ask them for some. They usually have lots of them that they are just throwing away and will give them to you no problem.

Try visiting your local electrical supply store. The boxes which flourescent lights are shipped in are perfect for golf clubs. Most are 48" and 60" but you can cut to fit. They are made of dense, heavy-duty cardboard which will add a liitle to shipping cost but worth the extra security.

The golf store makes more sense, as you are recycling things that may get thrown out. But if you do not have a way to get used stuff, at USPS.com you can ask them to send those triangular tubes to you for free. In a few days, you'll get a box with 10 tubes in it. They are only 38" long and have to be modified (doubled) to fit larger clubs.

Thank you much for that link. Our post office never keeps them in stock, which you can't find out until after you get to the front...which obviously takes forever as only 1 in 5 postal employees seems capable of working at any given time. :man_in_love:

Go to a golf store and see if they have any that will fit. You have to stay with just big enough. Any extra will cost extra in shipping charges. Good luck.

The last time I shipped a staff bag I went to uhaul and they had a couple boxes that fit. I have also used a "lamp" box from a storage facility/ moving company.

I make sure I keep the supply at about 3. If I get below that...time to go on a ho-down. Over and that means it's time to start selling again!

Usually go into a Golfsmith, buy something while I'm there, and mention I'd like a few Driver's boxes. They're more than happy to give them to you, means they don't have to do dumpster duty.

Just had this issue today. Went dumpster diving. Behind a furniture store near the dumpster I found one perfect for what I needed.

This is a perfect container for standard size putters. As stated above can be pieced together to send longer items. Fairly strong and easy to fill with packing to add more protection. And dirt cheap to send.

I've gotten 2 or 3 from Golfsmith. I hear they have a lot of boxes in the back that they'll just throw away, but recently I had a slightly negative experience. I went in, asked for a box long enough for a driver. The rep came back with a box, handed it to me, and I told him I sold a driver shaft on ebay and didn't have any boxes long enough. He said "We sell shafts too, so don't make this a regular thing". Unless I'm mistaken, do big box golf stores actually need to keep their 'big boxes'?

Yep. I can ship a shaft in that box (combined with 1/4 of another box cut down) and it weighs under 1 pound. Shipping usually runs around $6 or $7, insurance another $2.50 or $3.50. All said and done it costs me under $10 (sometimes) to ship a shaft.
