For me, it's all about resale value. And looking good of course (cool)

This is what I'm rocking on my Scotty...

That's funny because that headcover has a horrible resale value and is widely regarded as one of the ugliest Cameron covers ever.

All that matters is whether you like it or not...I'm not knocking your taste. Just thought it was funny.

I think maybe (i hope) that he was talking putter resale value

PS I love The hula girl one I just got, need to protect the goods

I got a question for all u guys that have expensive putter headcovers (that are either expensive off the store or are collectible items), how do you guys do it (using the expensive putter cover)?, when YOU KNOW it cost you more (the cover) than $15.

Usually, both courses that I play on are 90% freakin' wet due to the fact that either:

a. the grass has just been watered; b. right now we're on spring, so getting alot of spring showers. Kinda concerned about getting the headcovers filthy.

I'm basically switch out to cheap black covers on all my woods and putter when I go to play a round. During the week, when I usually just go to the driving range, I will have nicer headcover for my driver and putter. Am i being psychotic? :dntknw:

In his profile it says he is from pittsburgh, which was the sight of the 07 US Open, so he most likely attended the open and bought the cover as a memento

Always have one on the putter! A few years ago I was on a trip overseas and stopped into a leather shop in Turkey and showed them a Scotty Cameron Headcover and asked if they could copy it with few modifications. I wanted it a longer on the shaft so it fit further into the bag and the velcro longer so the sides didn't flip up. Plus, I wanted 6 of them made with some of their bright colored leather with real shearling on the inside. The guy says "no problem, $25 each, come back in a few hours." One of the best purchases I ever made, there is no logo or anything on them to draw attention, they have lastest for ever, take a serious beating, and still look great.

I use one all the time but would love to find someone that can custom make one like shown below. I really like the magnetic closure instead of velcro and the shape is perfect. Just want a different color with some custom embroidery. Can anyone help? And no, that is NOT my dirty putter in the photo. I would never let it look like that!

Yep. I always keep the cover on it while the putter is in the bag.

On a side note, as others have stated, I always have a back-up headcover and grip for my putters.

P.S. Do you know where I could get one like this? :man_in_love:

I always do, I use some leather covers I had made in different colors to keep my Putters protected. Here is a picture of them with a standard AM&E cover, as you can see I had them made a little longer on the shaft, the lining is lambs wool. The velcro closure is wider and longer than the AM&E. These things take a beating and stay looking good...especially since I rotate them on a regular basis.

Always use a putter headcover on my putter...and i will be religious about it once i get my Newport 2..

FWIW i also have an ogio with the woode system and when i forget to put my putter headcover on sometimes i will hit the top of my driver with the bottom of my putter on the way out of the bag :( since i leave my driver w/o a headcover since its the longest club in my bag and is impossible to come in contact with other clubs (unless smacked by my putter :( )

Good putters cost too much not to protect. Personally I don't like to look down on a dinged up topline when I'm lining up to putt. Plus a dinged up putter has no resale/trade value.

High end headcovers say "Steal me." I just sold a white Scottie dog cover for $150. Cool headcover but I never used it. Didn't want it stolen, trashed, etc.

I started a thread like this a couple of years ago because I didn't understand why people uesed them. Now after trying to sell a putter I had with some paint scratches I understand why people use them. Also, I bought a scotty and the top line has a few dings in it that drives me crazy. So, now I always use a putter cover without fail. I can't use the scotty cover though for reasons that others have brought up, so I use a cover from where I went to grad school.
Protects the putter and the wood shafts............why wouldnt you want to do that?
Isn't that what the headcovers on the woods are for?

I never use one, but I have a cheap putter (Ping B60). It came with one, and around the fourth hole the first round, I just shoved it in a pocket, and I don't think it's come out since.

I'd only use one if I were concerned highly concerned about resale value, but I try to buy things in used shape to start with, so I don't have to worry about keeping things pristine.

I`ve got the TM Monza Putter and I`m not shaming muself by putting that small pizza box on it. I`ve got a cleveland V14 cart bag with putter well, so all I do is position my 3 wood 2Hybrid & 5 wood(all with covers) nearest to putter well in 3 of the 14 slots. That way the putter never get damaged. It sometimes rotates in to the headcovers, but hardly ever coz putter well is lined so grips the putter grip.

Let go of your putter cover fetish, Declutter your lives. 18 holes = 36 outs & ins. Why 36 offs and ons. Wasted energy.

Not only I always use putter cover, driver & wood cover, I have plastic cover on most of my irons and wedges as well.
I hate to see the ding marks from club banging into each other, and I hate the chatter sound when I am walking!
