Jeans on the Golf Course - Yay or Nay?

Personally, I never wear jeans. And until a few years ago, I never saw jeans on the golf course.

My home course is a $98 per round public course. Once the temperature drops it seems 50% of the guys out there are wearing jeans.

It's not against club policy so I don't care...I just find it interesting.

No. I like to wear Jeans but it just doesn't look right out on the golf course.

I've worn solid black/tan jeans on the course. Whatever's comfortable.

NO. In the UK, a country where yob opinion holds sway, one of the few places left where style, consideration,manners and tradition are practiced is the golf club. However there are now private clubs who will abandon a hundred years of standards in order to get new members, and that included allowing jeans, collerless shirts, trainers etc. Hang on to your club standards-once they are gone you won't get them back.

I play at a couple of nice courses, but it is Texas and about 80% of the folks playing are wearing jeans. It's most comfortable.

I have worn jeans on the course a few times, but they just seem..uncomfortable for golf, i like something that ain't so structured.

When the weather is warm, it's kakhi shorts...when it turns cooler, I wear jeans...Outside of work, I like to be comfortable...and jeans seem to be it...maybe it's my generation that grew-up loving jeans...

 

I guess the thing that always got me more often was t-shirts. I think a nice collared shirt with jeans can look good...but t-shirts just don't do it.

I wear jeans all the time....just NOT on the golf course. It just looks odd to me...and not appropriate IMHO.

I think it all depends on what kind of course you are going to play, if I am going to play a nicer course I will not wear jeans, but if I am just going to my local 9 hole muni on a sunday afternoon, I will wear jeans.

NAY.... to jeans.. Around here only the lowest public courses allow jeans. At the counrty clubs you must also tuck in your collared golf shirt into your golf pants. One of the really cool things about golf is all the crazy nice equipment, including apparel. Ask yourself are jeans the best I can do ? jeans during a round of golf = low rent... IMHO............ LOL but that is in New York

Never. Never have and never will. Just sticks out like a sore thumb. I saw a guy once wear a Niner's jersey and jeans on the course. WTF??

 

That's the one thing I've come to appreciate about playing nice golf courses... is that people dress appropriately.

My course is a really small muni. I usually wear jeans because they are warmer than kakhis...Plus im usually wearing them when its cold out. In the summer, Its athletic shorts.

I would never ever wear Jeans any where near any golf related activity. I can't stand seeing jeans, athletic shorts, or non collered shorts at the course. Today the 2 guys behind me were wearing jeans and this was at a nice course. I was surprised they were allowed on.

I love wearing jeans to the first tee and seeing people's reaction after I hit a frozen rope that splits the fairway.

 

But my preference is for athletic pants, like windbreakers or rain pants.

I'll say nay, but I have done it- did it last week when I was the only person on the muni on a cold, cloudy day. But I didn't like it- won't do it again (had nothing else clean at the time).

 

I did play a tournament a few weeks ago on a nice course- one of our foursome wore a sweatsuit- I thought that was odd. Surprised they let him on, but I guess the charity doesn't like turning people away...
