Jeans on the Golf Course - Yay or Nay?

I don't wear jeans on the course, but that's because I don't like jeans for any other athletic activity.

Can't believe the thread is really this long, but I guess I'll add my two cents. I would never wear jeans to play and none of my friends would. It would definitely be seen as out of place at any of the courses around me. That being said if you wanna play in jeans go for it, it doesn't affect me... Well it might, if your wearing jeans I'd probably be more willing to put a little wager on the round and you would probably take my lunch money just the same

I may have worn jeans 4 or 5 times in the 30 years of playing and that would be out of playing on a whim. Clubs in the trunk out doing something else and the buddies are like lets go play nine. I would never plan on wearing them. It doesn't bother me if others do. I don't wear shorts either. Always slacks. Never bothers me what others are wearing just how they act. I may think they look like a clown but keep it to myself and I'm over it in about 30 seconds. They always ask me why I wear pants in the summer about a shot or two before I go into the poison ivy laden woods helping them search for their errant shot.

Before May 15th and after October 1st where I live I wear them if allowed.

I wear and ACL brace and it's hard to find pants that are warm enough and baggy enough. I have an older pair of lucky jeans with a bit of stretch to them that are awesome when it's cold.

Keep in mind, I have lived most of the last 12 year north of the 53rd parrallel.

Last year, I sometimes wore these I have gray and black, and no one ever said anything, I think it's because they look like golf pants.

If they're allowed, then I don't see the issue with anyone wearing them. I, however, hate wearing long pants period....so you'd never catch me dead in them on a golf course.

im ok with it in the early spring and late fall when the course is cold and wet. It's more comfortable than wearing thin, wet khaki's.

Denim is absolutely the worst material in the world to wear when it's wet - by khanki's I'm assuming you mean cotton chinos. Denim is also 100% cotton. Most denim is a twill weave that while tougher, it gets heavier when wet and takes much longer to dry. Go spend $25 on some poly-blend tech pants that don't stay wet and spray paint them a denim color if you like the look so much - just a thought.

I wear jeans when it is too cool for shorts and the course allows.

To paraphrase my cousin - if other folks can look like clowns with some of the get-ups I see, I'm going to feel totally comfortable looking like a farm hand.

I was paired up once with a guy wearing jeans. He shot a 75. It didn't seem right to me.

I dont wear jeans or cargos...or crocs for that matter. I wear pants/shorts when I play. If its a little chilly and I got shorts on then the rain pants go over the top. There is a member at our course who is a very good player that will wear jeans every so often and it doesnt bother me. The only dress code item I agree with is a collared shirt.
