Jeans on the Golf Course - Yay or Nay?

My package does not enjoy jeans. I am just not a jean type of guy. Always have been in athletic wear or suits.

Depends on the course.
If I'm at a nice country club, you can't even wear jeans so you won't see jeans, but at county courses, I see jeans all the time... I personally would never do it.
I think male golfers should stick to dress pants and shorts and ladies should stick to dress pants, shorts and skirts

Absolutely NOT! No jeans on the course although I have discovered in TN that lots of courses allow them! In N.C., very few allowed them when I lived there.

I remember watching on the golf channel a few years back a few guys, maybe 4? who were all contractors would sleep in their trucks over night at the course, which was an upscale course with about $150 greens fee. They wore cut-off t-shirts and shorts. All because the course allowed it. They did it every Sunday and got the first tee time.

I knew guys that slept overnight in their cars at Torrey Pines and San Clement Golf Club to be first on the walk-on list. But, these guys dressed like golfers.

Amazing 63 pages I wonder if that's a sign of the coming golfing community.

They had a documentary, on Golf Channel last year, about a group that I believe did that at Torrey Pines. Thing is, it was pointed out in this thread, they definitely were not dressed as golfers....More like construction workers (except for the boots) grabbing a quick 9, on the way home, after work. Hard hat not included.

In MY CONTENT, it said that I posted my last reply at 07:29 yesterday, this is June 13th, my last post was on May 31st.

With ALL of the new stuff, added, deleted, upgraded, etc. etc. the fact that one of the most talked about complaints on this board, [i]ie[/i]: OLD stuff in the "replies to my posts" with NO new reply, still can't seem to get fixed and, it is irritating. Some of these topics seem to get stuck like a bug on your car's bumper and, you can't get rid of. I will not talk for others but, it has me wondering every time I reply in a thread. "Is it going to go away and die or ..........!"?

At the local muni track I play a lot after work, its not unusual to see someone in a tank top and gym shorts...so I'm not really worried about my jeans. Yes, I wear jeans if its cool enough and I don't see a problem with it as long as it's not against club policy.

My local municipal course allows denim, so I often wear jeans.

My personal predjudice, I will never wear shorts, unless I am on the tennis court!! ... lol.

I can understand clubs allowing respectable looking jeans, IE: Not tatty ripped things, around the clubhouse.

I do have to admit to wearing them a few times on the course when I was on my way back from somewhere and wanted to get a few holes in before dark. I always wore my wet trousers over them though

He never said he changes into jeans, he said at the course he plays he sees people in gym shorts and tank tops so he figures jeans aren't so awful. Never referenced changing into anything. I gathered that he wears jeans to work and so has them on when he stops to play after work.

I play mostly at a public course thats in a state park, isn't very expensive (~35 riding weekdays, ~45 riding weekends) and they accept walkups. I think this "issue" just depends on how you were brought up to view the game of golf. My family was club members at a fairly nice club growing up, so per my father's words "don't dress like a bum son." This meant khaki shorts, collared shirt tucked in, etc. I try not to pay much attention to what others are wearing on the course and would never be offended to the point of saying something to someone about it, but there is an ackward feeling of "that's wrong" when I see someone rolling out with jeans and a t-shirt or the worst yet.. gym shorts and wife beater.

In AL it stays warm enough usually to wear shorts anytime, sounds like you guys buy the wrong kind of khakis lol, the pants I wear to work are far more comfortable than any pair of jeans I own. Haggar repreve with the comfort wasteband, try them if you haven't.

thank you, you are correct....my work attire is a pair of nice jeans and a polo, so if I go play after work I just get out of my car and go...its a city owned Muni course that has flat well manicured tee boxes, nice fairways, fast smooth greens, and plays about 7000 yards from the tips so its a nice little track to hit after work...since it's city owned, the greens fees are only $11 to walk 9 through the week, which is what draws in the previously mentioned "tank top and gym shorts" crowd
