Amazing driver. Surprising that it only won silver on the Hot List. Idiots.

The A4 was just too low spin for the common golfer is all.

D,

You mentioned that you had it hotmelted. Was that just for swingweight purposes or is the head slightly closed. I am in the market for a new big dog and right now I am looking at Callaway because of the tour-clock ferrules and the r9 because you can open it up. How did this thing sit at address?

Big Lefty-

I had it hotmelted simply to get to the desired swingweight at the 45" length. In "standard" form, the clubhead is a bit light because it comes at 45.5".

As far as set-up.......WOW! It set up perfect to me, it is either slightly open, or very close to square, haven't measured it yet.

I'll shoot for getting a pic or 2 up later tonight to try and give you a sense of it.

Ive been playing the Callaway FT-5 for over a year now and the first few balls I hit on the range with the 8.5 A4 shafted with a Aldila "Wasabi" (prototype shaft) sold it for me. I stuck it in the bag for the 18 holes that day and its NEVER came out yet. The A4 is eaier to control and the distance isnt even close!!

So not only did you dump the FT-5, but also the X-Forged. Wow, really that much better?

P.S. - If you drop the Betts for a Dixx then I'll really be shocked! :D

After playing 2 rounds with my buddys 9016 axis 75 x combo, i got mine built (with the 75 s Axis)a couple days ago. I played my first round with it thursday and "Oh Doctor!" Longer and better feeling than any driver I have ever hit, period.

The 9016 sits about square to a hair open and is lower spin than the 9015 as I understand it. I have a 9015 on the way so I will post a comparison. BTW, dont overlook the Axis shaft in these heads. It's a great combo.

So is this damn head that good, or should I just play tipped S-flex shafts in my drivers from now on instead of untipped X's.......sheesh this thing feels hot!

So when these first hit the shop a while ago, I tried them and was very impressed. I kept wacking at it. I posted here every time I hit another driver and put it up against my R7 Limited. And none of the hot 'new' stuff that people were jumping on here challenged my R7 Limited... until this Adams came out.

I kept hitting it and the first thing was the shaft isn't cheap. But the feel was rivaling my R7 limited. This was shocking to me. The distance was fantastic. I kept hitting it, re-checking ballspeed. Then one of the instructors I know at the shop walks by and sees I've been hitting this thing a while and I ask him if he's tried it... he tries almost everything. He says 'nope'... and I can tell it's because it's Adams. He sees me hit 3 or so more and he says, 'let me give it a spin'.He hits about 5 in a row and I can see almost a comical look of disbelief on his face.

This club was nearly bought right there, but I couldn't justify it... not right now. I have to see the Speedline!!!

I found the A4's to have about the same feel as the X-Forged irons...with alot more forgiveness and NO I'm not dropping the Betti's anytime soon :betty: ...but I do hear they are in the developing stages of some new cool putters. :secret:

I wish I hadn't read this topic too... I made a late night impulse purchase last night as a result of reading this post. I am not keeping to my resolution... stop being such a HO. Now, I have to figure out a way to explain another box arriving at the house this week, and I am running out of excuses. :yahoo:

I actually tend to hit a high ball and found the 9015d to have no appreciable difference in ball flight. I still hit the ball pretty high. I was under the impression that this was a high launch, low spin head (and it certainly performs like one).

I have always played a 9-9.5º head and went with the 9.5º here.

I am taking the plunge on the A4 because of all the great reviews here. Plus, most of the sales guys at Roger Dunn in Santa Ana swear by it and are gaming the A4. One of them is on staff with Taylor Made and swears the A4 is superior to all other drivers.

I am a high launch and high spin player and after 30 minutes on the launch moniter (spin- 2300-2800 and launch- 13-16) I oredered a A4- 8.5/matrix 60stiff/45"/D3sw. Plus, they dropped the price on the XTD Pro FWY/HBY, so I ordered a 14.5 with the matrix 70 for $160 to go with the A4 driver.

I traded in my beloved G10/Voodoo combo driver and G10 3wood for the A4 and XTD Pro. I hope they live up to the hype ;) ;) ;)

I finally took the plunge as well. I couldn't afford a new one but found a steal on a LDA XTD 9015D with a V2 HL to try out. Gonna take it out next weekend since it won't be here until Tuesday. I'll report back with the results.

Same thing happened to me. It is consistently about 5 miles an hour faster than anything else I've tried. I think a lot of it has to do with the COG being fairly high and in line with sweetspot. I don't care why but I bomb this driver for me. It was what got me trying the Adams gear and lead me to changing my entire bag and take a deal with Adams. Everything I've hit that they make has flat out performed.

I bought the A4 (9.5* stiff) after a great LM fitting. The A4 also gave me ballspeed numbers consistently 3-5 MPH faster than all others I tried. I got a couple 160 ballspeed launches out of 107 SS which is pretty impressive. My launch angle was around 14* and spin in the 3300 range. Unfortunately on the course I have struggled with it in terms of consistent ball flight shape and dispersion. (I usually play a high draw) I cut the shaft down from the butt 1/2" and that helped a bit (club is now D-0) but I'm still not confident with this driver. Also, due to the cold winter weather I have not had much range time but have played about 12 rounds with it.

I'm wondering if the open face or lighter shaft relative to the set-up listed below in my Rapture w/757 is the reason. I hate to give up on it because when I start it on the right line and actually get it to turn over, it goes forever with a nice flat trajectory and more roll than usual.

I brought this up on some other threads and some have recommended trying a different shaft. Any thoughts here? I noticed some of you have experience with different shafts in this head. Thanks

Well, put my driver shaft of choice in it today, Blue Board 63-X. Can't wait to try it with my favorite driver shaft of all time!

To all those asking loft advice..........this is what I got when talking to the Adams people that work directly with Nationwide and PGA Tour players. -Comparable loft to what you play now will launch a bit lower, apex lower and flatter. It is always suggested to go up a bit in loft with this driver, roughly 1 in 7 guys sticks with the same loft, the other 6 go up in loft-

Very interested to hear your results with the Blueboard in this head. Why did you re-shaft?

I have been looking at this driver at a local golf shop and have hit it quite a few times in the simulator and it has been killing all the other drivers that I have hit against it. Of course most everyone knows that it comes with the Matrix, but I saw one the other day on consignment with a ProLauch Axis Blue shaft 70-S. I was curious if anyone has any advice as to which of these shafts they would go with in this head?

I've said it before and I'll say it again to anyone willing to listen...for ANYONE looking for a traditional looking setup with a feel that takes you back to the days of the 975D ( :man_in_love: ), this is the driver. Most I have seen look open, but like it's been said you CAN make it go left. Taking the left side out of play will have more to do with the shaft you install. As a guy who used to produce the "ski-jump" ball flight with 3000 rpms of spin, this driver has totally reinvigorated my golf game. I reduced the spin rate by nearly 850 and my flight starts high and maintains the same trajectory for the entire time the ball is in the air. Those of you who haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and give it a whirl. Like most drivers, shaft choice is key. These are very low spin heads, so keep that in mind. It took me 3 tries to find the right one, but now..let's just say my driver search is a distant memory.

Testimonials like this are why I don't want to quit on this head even though it hasn't worked out so far. (My drives were all over the place with this club with the stock shaft.) Given that my original Rapture w/ 757 Tour S Speeder worked very well for me before it broke, does anyone have any shaft recommendations that will compliment my A4 (9015) head and my specs:

104-107 SS, 14* launch, 3200-3300 spin. I come at the ball from the inside and hit a high draw with all of my clubs.

Thanks
