I've never tried a push/pull cart. Carrying has never been too hard. Just celebrated my 40th, so you never know....

I have a 4.5 sun mtn. carry bag that is awesome. Sometimes ill go with that on a sunny beautiful day, and i jettison items other than clubs, balls, tees and a bottle of water. I bought the Sun Mountain 4 wheel microcart & the bag MCB that is specifically made for that pushcart. Talk about a winning combo!! Everything locks perfectly into place for effortless pushing of a bag filled up with raingear, umbrella, beverages, pockets full of all kinds of doo-dads. If you get tired after nine or are playing at a course/outing that requires electric cart the MCB bag is a great bag to put on back of an electric cart as it has a regular bottom, not angled like tripod bags that are a pain in the a** to put on a cart. Also microcart folds down to a very small size(Like Clicgear) so it fits in an acura tl trunk without a problem. My former speedcart and bag did not allow me to fit anything else in my trunk.

Few years ago I read about a study that compared the average score between carry bag users and trolley users. The trolley users saved up to 4 strokes per round! At that day a bought my first trolley. But as I played on a course with lots of up- and downhill fairways at that time a bought an electric trolley and never looked back; even on flat courses it is very nice to have an electric trolley. You can walk next to it, eat and drink something because both hands are free.

I don't mean too sound too callous. I respect what our armed forces do for us on a daily basis and am very aprpeciative. At the same time I hardly see it as an insult to suggest that someone in the armed forces (the strongest and best trained in the country) if able bodied, should be able to carry a golf bag. If that offends the toughest people in our country that's dissapointing. I have not served but my dad served in the Navy - and as I said he carries and he's in his 70's.

Guess they shouldn't use remote controls for their TVs too.

My club had a ban on Pull carts.

Curious as to why? Do they just want to rent riding carts?

The wheels compact the soil killing the grass. But if you use the spike wheel covers this isn't an issue.

I alternate between carrying a partial set With a moon bag when I play executive courses vs. pushing my sm micro w/ mcb bag.

I prefer the push cart. If I need both hands free, I launch the cart ahead of me and walk to it as it rolls quite well on its own.

I will also push it with my gut, if I'm drinking water or eating for hands free operation.

I think I carry a ton of stuff in my cart bag just because it doesn't matter how much weight I'm pushing. Two 32 oz bottles, food, rain gear, a dozen balls, laser, etc.

The cart has a storage container where I can stow my phone and scorecard, and a cup holder for my drink. I see no negatives other than my bag doesn't have a stand when I hit the range.

My club had a ban on Pull carts.

Anyone else carry for that reason.
So did they outlaw carts too? Wow, if my club did that I'd be out for sure. My clicgear is a life saver!
I was kind of thinking the same thing. It sounds like a BS reason to get people into carts and increase revenue.

I just started playing 9 months ago.

If I am doing 9 I'll carry. I used to rent the golf cart on 18 but recently have aquired a push cart to save some dough and still get the physcial benefits of walking. My problem now is that my stand bag doesn't fit in the push cart and tend to fall off at times. I might get a cart bag for the weekends in which I push and carry on the weekday when I am playing just 9.

I used to push/pull, now I carry.

- It's a little more exercise and it makes me feel good about myself.
- I can cut across the green/tee box - go everywhere with the bag
- I can have the bag on the tee box - on any terrain
- My hands are free when walking
- It's cheaper
- It "damages" the course less
- It helps play faster
- Everything (tees, water, balls, etc) is simply more accessible
- I can do it
- It takes less space in the car

At all times, in my carry bag, I have:

- 14 clubs
- snacks for the round
- kleenex
- plasters
- cell phone, wallet, keys
- 3-4x 500ml bottles of water
- 2 towels
- one hat
- rain gear: waterproof jacket, rain gloves
- cool weather gear if the temperature went up during the round
- 3 leather gloves (I hang the glvoes on the shoulder strap so that they dry when walking - I have access to all three)
- gps
- tees
- 12 balls
- change ($)
- sharpie, pencils
- sun screen

The only things I don't have access to when walking are: most of the 14 clubs, wallet, keys, one of the towels, hat, rain/cool weather gear, change($), sharpie/pencils, sun screen - basically, all the things I do not need to have access to.

P.S. The divot tool is in my left pocket ;)
