Always lugged my bag until this past October when I bought a Clicgear push cart.
It is so nice to have a cart, that on flat/flatish courses I'll always use it. Still not sold on them being that great on hilly tracks though.

Carry

But I nearly passed out in July when it was 95* and about 90% humidity. A push cart seems like a good idea for when it gets hot.

Yep -- in those conditions, playing is tough enough, much less carrying. ESPECIALLY if you we're on the Black that day! :(

Other than a few rounds a year at courses where I have no choice, I also carry using a Sun Mountain Four5.

I'm 24, have had surgery on one shoulder and dislocated the other. I've only been playing golf consistently for 2 years and carried the first year. I saw an opportunity to get a Clicgear 3.0 for really cheap brand new so I took it. Honestly, one of the best decisions I've ever made. If you've got the cash, go for it. The stress carrying a bag puts on the body isn't worth it in the long run. I feel as though I play better because come the 16th hole, I'm not thinking about the annoying and creeping soreness in my shoulders/upper back.

I carry, but at some point I would like to get a pull cart. I feel like my clubs get a huge amount of bag chatter nicks when I carry.

Seriously?

Bag Chatter?

I am blown away by the fact that people let this bother them, how about the fact that you slam these things into the ground 70-100 times a round, not to mention range time. Why do you folks get so hot and bothered about bag chatter?

I don't know. I just like less bag chatter. It's weird how people like and dislike different things. I don't like bag chatter. You don't like people who don't like bag chatter. Somehow the world keeps turning.

I will carry for the second season (this will be my 4th season) but I took an idea from another thread and will only carry 8 clubs, for the start of the season at least. It has nothing to do with weight, but the bag will be a lot lighter because of that, so I look forward to being a little fresher towards the end of the round as a result.

I used to use a push cart and I used it once last year but found it annoying to have to park it outside the tee box and having to go around the green. A carry bag is so much more convenient. I'll be using a Four 5 but might get myself a H2N0 at some point.

Walking is one of the best joys of golfing for me. (I'm now 50!)

I love to walk; I love the rhythm of walking to my ball, putting the bag next to my ball and pulling the club out.

While I will cart it when I have to (and when I am golfing with a client) I hate it usually; no exercise and having to go all over the course between two balls.

I always think I play better when I walk.

I walk with a Titleist Ultra Lightweight and don't mind even though it has only two club slots and I have to jiggle my irons to find the one I want sometimes. Its actually nostalgic reminding me of my youth searching for the 9 iron.

A bit younger, but for me, everything else is spot on.

As a side note- I'm not long by interweb standards, but it's particularly painful carting it with some of the guys I play with who are really short. It's nearly impossible to get a rhythm going when my first is between (always between- never even for some reason) their 2nd and 3rd.

I think golf was meant to be played walking, carrying, and under 4.5 hours.

I totally agree with you. I'm 53 now and I started walking at the start of 2012. I found out that I enjoy golf so much more. It's a shame that my playing buddies refuse to walk. I find myself just wanting to go alone and trying to hook up with fellow walkers at the course now.

Sounds like the bag chatter person is the one that's worked up........lol

I don't like bag chatter either. I USE IRON COVERS...lol

I slam my irons into the ground alot. I expect scuffs on the sole and ball marks on the face. I can't stand looking at dings all over the face and looking down at a dinged up top line. Isn't gonna happen for me. I can't stand any dings on my putter. A buddy of mine hit my putter with his putter and dinged it. I had a new one by the next time we played. I never had a sky mark on a driver or fairway but if I did I would sell it and replace it.
I could care less what other people do with their clubs. I like mine a certain way.

Used to only use the push cart, then bought a carry bag because I liked the sleeker look and could stand it up when just going to the range. After I bought that I started carrying occasionally and now carry far more than I use the cart. At 29 I don't have to worry about getting tired or sore from carrying and dont mind that I can burn a few more calories during my round.

I've just started playing golf last year and started with a push cart but so far this year I've converted to a carry my own bag walker. Love the walk and the freedom carrying gives me. Purchased a Palm Springs Sunday stand bag to lighten the load and only carry 8 clubs as I'm still learning the game. I'm 69 and run marathons (3 this year) for a hobby so I'm in pretty good shape. There's a gentleman in our area that's in his 80's and carries his own clubs. For me carrying adds enjoyment to an already enjoyable game but I respect and understand other's attitudes as well.

Looking forward to walking the course again with my new knees. Arthritis had me riding the last two years but had the knees replaced over the winter.

Will I carry, absolutely not.
