Ever since I started playing I have gamed the original 588. When I found out Roger was with Callaway, I started buying the x-forged.

 

As a beginning clubmaker, I would love to have this experience with Roger to see what he would do for certain swing types, and recommendations for certain grinds.

 

Gaining knowledge and experience, not to mention it would truly be an honor to be fitted by the master himself!!!

The wedges would complete the puzzle. Over the past 6 months I have built my set piece by piece. I started with the irons, then chose the driver, then the 3 wood, customized my putter, and recently got the right hybrid. The last piece is the wedges. My wedges have seen better days and it is time to upgrade. Getting the kind of service that Roger offers would be an amazing experience. The idea of having the right wedges, with the right grinds, and lofts is too good to pass up.

why would I want them??? Because I've never had a custom fit set of wedges. I do my own grinds, and think I have a pretty good concept on what is ideal for me, but hearing what 'Mr. Wedge' has to say and playing what he builds would probably put mine to shame!

Okay, so I would love the wedges in my bag. As to why I would love them, who wouldn't want a set of wedges done by Roger Cleveland? Also, as a terrible wedge player, I would love the chance to work with someone who could figure out a club that make me at least slightly better. A set of forged Vintage finish wedges would look great in my bag, and honestly, the only way I would put new wedges in my bag is to get a full set. The Callaways would fit that bill and then some.

My reason for wanting these wedges is fairly simple: they are one of the best OTR wedges when they are completely stock, so to have the opportunity to have one of the best ever custom make the wedges to my exact specs is a truly unique option. I tend to have a fairly shallow swing, and finding wedges that are made with low bounce for hard conditions isn't the easiest task. Thanks so much to GolfWRX for this contest, and Callaway Golf/Roger Cleveland for the incredible generosity.

First I guess I should start out by describing the state of my game. For the past few years I have been holding steady at a 12-14 handicap, but I am constantly trying to get over the “hump” and get down into the single digits. I have known for some time now that I can accomplish this by getting better with the short game, specifically with my wedges, but I just haven’t seen much improvement. The shot that I fear the most is the 20-60 yard chip shot which I usually tend to “chunk” and then when faced with it again, hit thin because I didn’t want to “chunk” it again.

 

With many companies starting to offer different grind options, I have done some serious research into which loft/bounce/grind combination would be best for my game. (I’m talking hours upon hours on GolfWRX, you know what I’m talking about!). However, without the ability to “demo” these clubs out on the course, it really just comes down to guesswork, hence I have been hesitant to put an investment toward new wedges.

 

Thus, for me, working with Roger Cleveland, a pioneer of designing clubs that match an individual’s swing, would be a tremendous opportunity to get the “right” wedges for my game—NO DOUBTS and NO SECOND-GUESSING. This way, I can get back to searching GolfWRX for other things… .

I'd love a set of these wedges! Ever since replacing my old TM TP Wedges nothing has felt comfortable and my wedge game has gone to crap. Maybe a set of custom wedges will do the trick!

I assure you that watching me with a wedge in my hand is like watching barkley hack away, staring at Cleveland VAS irons or as my playing partners like to say a monkey having relations with a football. It's just ugly! I know it has to be my equipment, there's no way it's the indian and not the arrow. The ability to have something custom made would be game altering. It could reverse rivers, help the blind see, help the crippled walk.....it would just be huge!

I'm in! I need help with full wedge shots, I always seem to hit all of them fat! I currently own a 60* X-tour and it is definitley my favorite club, so a full custom set would be a great addition to my bag and hopefully shave a few strokes off my game.

WHY I WOULD WANT THESE WEDGES

 

These cold help shave 1 or 2 strokes off my game so im in. Iv always wanted to know what best fits my swing for a wedge with bounce and loft.

I believe the wedge game is the most important of the game for the amature golfer, as we all do not hit as many greens as we like. In order to get up and down from the sand and rough or to hit the bump and run from a tight lie you must have great wedges to do so. Having wedges especially made for me would be AWESOME and would improve my confidence from around the green. Thanks Mr. Cleveland and Callaway Golf.

i used to be pretty good at this, the short game, but now i call it my nemesis. scince i got back playing golf my short game has been terrible, rigth now i drop my pings 56 and 60, i guess the sole didnt helped, got back my old dunlop 58 and got some cg's look a-likes and finally i'm starting to actually hit the ball, lol. i'm sure that a custom set of wedges will resolve many many many problems that i have 40 yds in and around the green, and to have a genius like mr. cleveland customizing (sp?) tehm, its an honor. big congrats to the winners. I would like to enter this contest, because my current wedges are at the end of their life spand. I had owned the original callaway X wedge with the mac daddy grooves, and loved the amount of spin they gave. the reason i would like some custom wedges, is my wedges are the only clubs in my bag that arent fit to me. I would love to win a new set for my senior year of high school, as it might be my last year of competitive golf. First, thanks to GolfWRX and Callaway for putting this together and to Roger Cleveland for his work. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us regular folks to get the tour treatment from a legend in the golf industry. Why would I want this opportunity? I go from wedge to wedge without really knowing whether the wedge I grab works for my game, gives me the playability I need or fulfills the distance requirements I have. Having Roger Cleveland grind out a set of wedges for me will stop the revolving door of wedges going in and out of my bag and help me get the confidence missing from that segment of my game.

He's a legend.... Who wouldn't want him to make some wedges for them!! Getting the same options and treatment as a tour player would be an absolute dream.... especially since it would be free. Plus, I'd have to imagine it's the only way to get these wedges customized from Callaway.

 

I do have to admit, customer wedges work WAY better than off the rack ones. Not only would it make a great set of wedges, it would be a fantastic story to tell during rounds.

I'd love the opportunity to work with a legend and get some customized wedges. Off the rack wedges never seem to work that well for me, especially in higher lofts (58-60). I'd love to get a custom 58 to have a narrower flange like a 54 or 56 to help me hit shots out of the fairway.

 

Plus it's a good way to try and get some Titleist clubs out of my bag and replace them with Callaway.

 

I'd be looking for a 54 and probably a 58 or 60. Probably have 10-12 degrees of bounce on each.

my home course is a pretty short track... 6200 ish.. but plenty of trouble.. so i find my self 100 and in on many many shots... would love to figure out a wedge system that i can depend on to dial in those distances

I would love to have a set of Roger Cleveland hand ground wedges!

 

The wedges are your scoring clubs, giving you the ability to save par and save rounds. You depend on them to interact with varying lies, to hit different trajectories and count on them to spin when you need it and release when you plan for it.

 

Roger has meant more to the shaping of the modern wedge, than any other. A lifetime of knowledge about wedge grinds and how they can benefit different swing styles and conditions, make him a master of his trade.

 

What drew me to the retail line of Callaway wedges was their stock grinds and forged feel, but to have a custom set would be extraordinary. To take a great product and have it customized for my game is what we all strive for.
