Whats the fuss about...
I was at the website which looks like a 10 year old created it. I see three grips for putters. Look like they were the same as the grips on my grandpa's putter. So someone tell me, what is the big deal with Gripmaster putter grips. Don't get me wrong, I am sure they are good. Just tell me why I should order one. What is all the hype about? Just something different? Better feel? Firm? Soft? Why do tour players use it? The website suggest it is popular on tour? Anyone willing to spill the beans?

Grips are very personal but for me they feel the best. I like the cow leather gripmasters. They feel slick to some but they are just right for me. My hands tend to sweat so I can't use rubber grips or they tend to feel extremely slippery. The gripmasters are very supple and have great feedback. The stitch line also feels very good in my hand and helps me know where the putter is at all times..

Grips are about personal feel. If you grew up playing leather grips, and learned to love them, the Grip Master models offer an ideal modern take on the classic leather feel with the convenience of a slip-on one piece grip. The look and feel of genuine leather doesn't come cheap in a grip, unfortunately.

If you're a person who values the feel of leather grips, the cost isn't as much of an issue as it is for someone who's grown up playing with and paying the going rate for rubber grips and who's doing a bit of window shopping.

Tour use isn't the only yardstick for how accomplished a product is, but for a company who don't pay out any tee up money Grip Master have a reasonable following amongst the major professional tours and the grips see regular tournament play in numerous bags. The names of the users aren't advertised for contractual reasons.

Whether or not Joe Pro plays them, they're a quality product that may well be a good fit for your game. The grips aren't cheap, but it's possible to test drive one or two on a couple of clubs for a modest outlay before plumping for a bagful if they prove to fit the bill. One of the key benefits is that, properly cared for and maintained, the grips have a long lifespan and can thus be expected to be a relatively economical purchase when set against several years' use.

In the interests of full disclosure, I don't work for the company nor do I even use the grips. I'm a cord man myself.

The website is indeed crap.

Personal preference. For those of us that grew up with leather grips, nothing else feels quite "right."

Cool. I was hoping to get some mixed views. I just sent my Rife Antigua off for some work at putterplating. I sent a UST shaft and Iomic midsize grip. I will get it back and play with the Iomic, then put a Gripmaster on for comparison. The only thing I know I don't want is a soft rubber grip. I am leaning towards more firm grips and that search has brought me to the Iomic and Gripmaster. So I will try both for a few weeks and see what I like best. That brings up another question. For you familiar with these grips, could you offer an opinion on which model may suit me. I emailed Gripmaster over a week ago and have not got a reply. What I am looking for is a midsize pistol. The Winn midsize pistol I love, but it is a bit too soft. OK, it is extremely soft, but I like the overall dimensions. Something a bit smaller like the Iomic midsize will work, but it is borderline too small. I am 6'6" 310 lbs and have big hands. That Iomic midsize I mailed out today with the putter and UST shaft felt pretty darn girly. But I will give it a go. With the Gripmaster line up, what would you suggest. I am also curious about the difference in the wraps and the solid (smooth) leather Gripmasters. Kangaroo? JD model? Any suggestions greatly appreciated. While I am begging for info, any suggestion on the best online retailer to order from? Thanks guys.

The gator and kangaroo feel amazing.. They offer a completely unique feel that have me converted from Iomic's and the like. If you can try one, definitely do.. They're worth the $$.

OK guys, need some help here. Found THE gripmaster in Texas. Found Gripmaster in AUS (I presume, not clear on website, but suggested). The place in Texas has many, many options and different grips. The folks in Australia only have three grips!!! And the only kangaroo model is the John Daly but it doesn't come in black of all colors. Which is the real Gripmaster? Any help appreciated.

A couple things to note about Gripmaster.

Gripmaster AUS and Gripmaster USA are not friends. They had a "falling out" and are different companies from my understanding. Someone can clarify, but that's how I understand it.

There are pics out there of some unreal exotics in a wide range of colors. They are beyond beautiful and "pimp" out a putter like nothing else, but they are pricey ($50 -$200)

The USA cow leather will feel different based on the color. The dye changes the slickness. Bright Dye = slick. Black, brown, dark red = less slick. I have some black stitchbacks that are very grippy and a blue one that started off slick and worked it's way to a little less slick (doesn't bother me)

Gripmaster Aus makes a kangaroo grip that has really good reviews for it's softness and tackiness compared to cow skin.

My favorite is the Salmon grip with little scales. It's thin and has more grip than I'll ever need from the fish scales. The scales also feel almost paper thin but are durable. It's also a nice blue color for $50.

I was talking to a very experienced putter collector a couple weeks back and he said that the gripmaster usa's grips are not always what they say they are and to be careful he used the example of ostrich, at the gripmaster usa they have it for $50-100 depending on the amnt of qualing but that grip costs $150+ to make if it is real ostrich skin. I belive him to because I have gripmaster usa montana cow on my putter and he has a gripmaster Aus montana cow on his, his is so much softer and tackier (mine was gamed for 1 round at the time and his was just put on).

Thanks for that info. I am quite confused on the Gripmaster USA and Gripmaster AUS thing. And going to the websites just makes it worse. Looks like something a 12 year old designed and hard to navigate. Pain in the butt is what it is. Starting to look like more trouble than its worth. Got an email from Gripmaster USA earlier and they said the midsize is out of stock till SPRING. I would have thought he was joking, but it was the last line of the email. But at least he replied, been waiting over a week for a reply from Gripmaster AUS. Buying a putter grip should not be so difficult. Especially not at these prices. I am sure they are nice grips, but this has been about as much fun as slamming my pecker in a door.
Ive always wanted one of the snakeskin gripmaters to try out. But I winced at paying $17 for an Iomic large. Couldn't imagine the contorions from paying the price asked for the snakeskin Gripmaster.
I've got the snake skin gripmaster on my TP Mills...

at first its kinda creepy feeling lol, but u just get used to the scales on the grip and actually i love it now.

It brings a lot of attention on the course because not a lot of people have actually seen / tried it, but everyone seems to love it after a few rolls..

Its an experience if anything... an experience of something other than rubber that is actually quite pleasant, give it a try if u have the chance

I ordered a Gripmaster putter grip from the Victory Custom Golf website, they seem to have a better selection to pick from than the actual Gripmaster website. The grip was then actually shipped from glenway putters.

Unfortunately, Gripmaster's use a soft/mushy underlisting. This means the installed grips do not offer good feedback.
