I used to have a cheap bag with nickent driver with stock shaft. Gc mid irons bought off ebay. And cheap wedges.

Now I have tour edge driver with after market shaft. Srixon Zstar fairways. With j40 hybrid and irons on the way. Mizuno wedges. And a yes putter.

I think I have easily gone past the 1000. Not to mention bag and cart.

Being in the golf biz, I get some very good deals on clubs but my value is:

irons - gift (bought for a steal at 180 in 2009)

Total spent including gifted irons is 815 dollars. Out of pocket, I spent 635. Not too bad I think

I would say you will find that about 85% of WRX has at least $1k invested in their bag given our nature of the hoing life! I'll just say that I'm nearly at $1k with just my irons...darn upcharge for Project X!

At least a grand for me guys and I havent finished gettin 2012 together yet.Right now im at 300 w/my TEE Trilogy Hybrids I just picked up.Im replacing my old Cleveland CG-2 irons this year as well as 3wood and driver.Im gettin RBZ Tour driver 299.00 TEE Trilogy 3 wood on sale for 149.00 and Tmade tour preferred cb irons 599.00 so there approx. 1300.00

I have over 50 $300 and up shafts sitting in my shop that haven't even been cut. 6 of them were originally priced around $1k, but are cheaper now. I have no idea how much I have invested in my bag. It has to be over $5k. I tinker way too much and change stuff out a lot. I will be honest... it seems as though you get what you pay for. IMO the more I put into a club the more I get out of it. I know a lot of people will disagree with this, but in my experience (and it's extensive) I always tend to obtain better performance out of the very high end equipment as long as it's set up correctly for my swing. I'm a bit fortunate though... I have a lot of connections and most often get my equipment for free. Most of my equipment is very custom "tour issue" stuff that you really couldn't even put a value on. In fact... the irons I'm playing are a one of a kind set of 2005 TM TPs that were never painted. Even the TP badge in the back is all chrome. They are pretty sweet looking. I wouldn't sell those irons alone for less than $5k. I'm sure they're not worth that, but they are to me.

My bag is easily $1,000 plus as far as retail costs goes.

However, thanks to the wonders of quibids, I may have spent a grand total of $200 at most on the entire thing.

With Quibids, you by bids, and if you know what you're doing, you can spend very few bids to good value items.

I got 2 Nike putters for about $5 each, a countless number of boxes of golf balls that usually ends between the $1-2 dollar range.

Once those are sent to you, you just return them to a golf store, tell them it was a present and you want to get store credit. Then use the store credit to get what you really want.

I got 3 new Cleveland CG15 wedges, a Ping Anser Milled putter, Callaway Razr X Irons, a titlest 3 wood and hybrid and a Callaway Diablo Octane Tour Black driver.

My bag is approx £1900, includes AP2 712 4-pw, 910 D3, 910f, 910h, vokey sm4s, 52, 56, 60, scotty studio 1.5, titleist RC10 bag, which if going by retail is around £1900=approx $3000....not cheap....!!!!!

By then, I had been gaming my S-58 irons more than a year. They cost 1.2 K. If I add everything, I'm a lot closer to $3,000. And, there will be some major changes in the bag (if not the whole thing) in 2012.

I'd guess even 2 yrs after the original post, the amount invested in a "Name'' bag has gone up significantly. You'd almost hafta qualify what kind of "bag" you're putting together...If you're going latest & greatest or if you're just gonna go the cheap route.

I've got about $2,500 in my gear.
