Best soft golf bag travel case???

Recommended Posts

Going from a hard cover case to soft cover case
Looking to replace my SKB hard travel case with a soft travel case. Lots of options out there including Ogio, Bag Boy, etc. I travel with a stand bag so do not need anything oversized. In fact the smaller the better but the best protection is what I am looking for. Any opinions and feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I used the Club Glove Burst proof model for 100+ flights. It served me so well my clubs never ever had any issues. If you're looking for a case for your stand bag, that's the model you want.

I recently replaced it with the larger Club Glove Last Bag. That case has about 12 flights on record now with the same satisfactory results.

I sold the Burst Proof bag to a member of these boards. Even after all those flights it still looked pretty good, but more importantly still performed like the day it was built.

For the record, I never used any stiff arm or any other device to "protect" the clubs. I never felt the need to.

One time I was changing planes in Cleveland I witnessed the overqualified baggage handler walk away from the belt and saw my bag do a nose dive off the loader. I was sure my clubs would be bent or broken. When I got to the hotel and opened the case, the clubs were as perfect as when I closed the case. The Club Glove has a nicely padded top and a cinching strap system that works great. As always YMMV.

Does anyone else seem to notice that the only bag that ever gets opened for inspection by the TSA is the golf clubs? I'll bet my bag has been inspected 95% of the time.

I travel quite a bit and usually have my sticks on-board. I will never use another brand but Club Glove.

Club Glove Last Bag.. Get the Last Bag and not the Burstproof, youll appreciate the extra room when you put dirty clothes and shoes in it for the flight home.. Dont forget the stiff arm!

Does the "last Bag" fit comfortably a 9.5 staff bag? What about Sun Mountain Pro Glider?

I really believe that with an item like this, you truly get what you pay for.

Yeah, you could save a few bucks and get a cheaper bag that would probably work just fine. But I think, that if you really want to protect your clubs, it's worth it to spend a little more and get the "tour proven" technology.

Do I personally car what tour players use?

Nope.

Do I want my clubs to arrive at my destination unscathed?

Yup.

I've written very few product reviews in my time, but I did feel compelled to post this review of the Club Glove on Epinions.

Since writing that I have replaced my Burst Proof Model with the larger Last Bag version. When I die, I could probably be buried in the thing. I know it's will last me the rest of my days.

Yes a 9.5 bag will fit just fine. But if that's not roomy enough, Club Glove also makes a Last Bag XXL (Think Bagzilla)

Yes it does.. Better to have room availlable and not need it, than to need the room and not have it! Funny, I just had this conversation with a friend thats headed to Hawaii! Go to CG's website and order one in a color you like and have initials put on it.. You'll see a ton of black ones out there!
I agree that Club Glove makes a great cover but honestly I am just as happy with my cheap Bag Boy T-8 softcover. Think I got it for around 100 bucks, has expansion zippers so I can get extra stuff in if it doesn't fit in my reg bag anymore. For what I travel with my Sticks, maybe 4 - 6 times a year it is good enough. I have it for 4 years now its scratched up plenty but still going strong with zippers, padding etc. I cant see myself spending that much money on a club glove bag...heck, I am glad its done someday so I can get a new one in a different color, mix it up a bi...lol

club glove def seems top notch, but I use a callaway (older, bb steelhead?) off the 'bay that was about 1/3 the price. seems to provide plenty of protection, just pack it well for that extra piece of mind- towels around heads, stiffarm or homemade device, etc. there's a thread on the bag board discussing this. also know that if you fly southwest they often make you sign a damage waiver if you use a soft case

I would love to get a high end club glove or the Ogio Monster, but for as infrequently as I fly with clubs, the generic travel bag I have works well enough. It probably cost about $50, but I won it at a scramble. The nylon is pretty sturdy, but the downside is I have to set up my own padding system at the top. I use towels for the bulk of it and a cut off hockey stick for a stiff arm. It's flown several times with no issues. It's actually going out with me tomorrow to Michigan.

To me, it's one of those things that if you have the extra money or will be using it a lot, go high end, but for the extremely occasional trip spending a few extra minutes on packing is worth saving some money.

PS.... I made sure with my insurance agent that my clubs are protected during travel. No bag will give you that kind of peace of mind.

It is a personal preference on how to spend your dough. No one can affirmatively demonstrate that Club Glove will absolutely protect your clubs better than something that costs $50-75 less. I have found that luggage is something worth spending up on -- I've used a Club Glove for 10+ years, beat it to hell, and it works flawlessly. Worth every penny. Same, frankly, as my regular roller bag. I bought an over-priced Tumi 10 years ago, treat it like crap, and it is still ticking away. You get what you pay for, IMO.

I am another Club Glove fan. Whatever you decide a stiff arm is a must with any soft case.

Stay away from the Tour Trek Endeavour. I own it and it has what I would consider a serious design flaw. The under side is not made of a durable material. On my first trip (a direct flight), the under side has several small holes. The second trip, more of the same. I only take 1-2 trips per year via air so I might be able to get a couple of years out of it especially if I apply some duct tape. The image shows my Endeavour with a light inside so you can see the number and size of the holes.

I have the xxl and it is awesome. You can really load the thing up with gear in addition to your clubs. Stiff arm is a must unless you like snapped driver shafts.
