Opinions wanted on accurate Fairway finding driver....
Just looking for some thoughts on what you all feel are the most accurate drivers out there. I have not been hitting many fairways with my current setup and of course as always I am looking for equipment to solve my problems:)

Current setup is a Cleveland XLS Tour 9.5 with Red Stiff Fit-on.

before this club ALL of my misses were left, but now most are right, so the open face may have taken the left side out of play, but brought the right into play. 112 Mph recently tested by Bridgestone ball fitting people. Transition is fast, think Nick Price.

What say you.

I just switched from a Cleveland Hibore to an R9 and it is a huge difference. The R9 is much more forgiving and I find a lot more fairways... but it is not as long as the cleveland. I am happy with the trade-off. BTW - 108 swing speed with the driver.

Another vote for the R9 here.

I've hit more fairways with my R9 than I remember hitting with any previous driver I've owned (and I've owned a few biggrin.gif).

Are you guys talking about the original R9 or the 460?

R9 Supertri.... and not because its in my bag, but it really is a straight hitter. I like the feel and look of my FT Tour better, but I can't argue with results on the course.

I like the TaylorMade drivers with weights. You can shorten the club and add weights to bring the SW back up w/o messing w/ lead tape or lighter grips. I think a 44.5" or less length should give you better accuracy. At your SS, you shouldn't sacrifice too much distance by shortening the shaft and maybe can maintain it due to more solid contact.

For me? Your exact set up......

I picked up a HiBore XLS tour 9.5 with the stock red stiff shaft last fall, and have hit more fairways this year than just about any driver than I can think I ever played. That being said, I think its about 5-10 yards shorter for my swing, but when I'm swinging just halfway decent, I almost can't miss the fairway, and that is saying a lot for me.

My misses are quite often left with other drivers, but sometimes right, and I will miss sometimes to the left with the Cleveland, but almost never to the right....

If you can deal with the look and the sound (I can't!) then I recommend the Nike Sumo (square) in 13 degree.

If you can't hit the fairway with this club then you need to consult your local pro.

Don't know about 13 degrees for your swing speed, but the Sumo2, Dymo2 and Dymo2 STR8 fit are great choices. The Dymo2 sounds much better than the Sumo2. I play all square woods...and they have really straightened out my long game with no swing changes.

I've seen the Dymo2 in stores for $129.

Mine is the original R9. I haven't tried any of the 460 heads as I am perfectly happy with the way mine performs.

Dymo Str8-fit worked for me. But it is 10 times louder than a regular dymo (i had dymo2). Both have helped me find the fairway.............
