Paint fill 101

I've never seen that brand but I'm assuming it's made for wood and dries with a "skin". I dint know if you can thin it but I'd go to a hobby shop and get an acrylic paint that has a higher quality. Tamiya is my favorite. I'd ditch that bottle though.

see the bubbles, this was the only one that worked on the "forged" area the other 8 just rolled up like latex

yeah i think i am going to strip them again and go with a better acrylic. This time im gonna strip them all the way down and do a lime green and white them to match my other stuff.

yeah i stripped it with tali strip all the way down to bare metal. But i didnt do the "adams" part which i am planning on doing later.

can i use that tal-strip stuff on a forged iron head? i want to remove the paintfill in my mp-33s because parts of it are worn out.

that stuff wont damage the forged steel will it and after i strip it with that tal-strip stuff, do i need to apply anything?

yup, you can i just did my mp60's. it does a real nice job getting all the paint out. as for applying anything after just wipe with alcohol as the OP said in the areas that will be filled to eliminate bubble

I'd recommend a coat of naval jelly all over the head first to remove the honey finish. It's gonna rub off anyways so may as well do it now!

I posted in another section that I used acetone and put it in a zip lock bag (so my wife doesn't complain I used all of her remover) and in 5 minutes, the paint just fell off. It didn't ruin the finish at all and smells better than the other chemicals out there.

Trying to decide if I should also take off the paint fill from my Cali Monterey and redo it....decisions decisions...my Laguna will be all black paint fill (translucent)...

Anybody have any problem with paint flaking or coming out all together? I used the Tamiya paints and noticed on a few Irons that the paint was kind of falling out. Did I just have too light of a fill?

That's just one of the reasons I used nail polish. Acrylics don't really stick to bare metal well. Usually your filling a 'channel' so it holds just fine but ultimately it's not always bonded to the surface itself. Try painting a flat surface on the club with it and see if you can't scrape it right off with your finger nail. Thats a pretty good way to test the bond.

Thats why you see more jewerly and such that's enameled as well.

I need some ideas. I am removing the paintfill from my 3 vokey wedges. I used acetone to remove the paintfill from the first two with no problems. However, the paintfill on the third wedge won't budge. I even soaked the clubhead in acetone overnight and still nothing. Any suggestions on how to remove this?

I just picked up some sweet nail polish colors including a "Gun Metal Blue." You said you used acetone to thin it a little?

1) How much did you put?
2) Is the nail polish too thick and that's why you mixed a little acetone?

This is my first attempt at the paint fill on my Pro Platinum (it's got a lot of bag chatter hasn't had a head cover since it was 2 years old) - I went with Garnet and Black for South Carolina. I also did my Ping irons in several different colors but haven't decided what the final colors will be.

Nail polish is easier to apply and clean up the edges. It also wears much better than acrylic paints. All I use is nailpolish.
