New 2007 Mizuno MP-67 Prototype Pics!

Here is the new Mizuno MP-67 cut muscle irons we have been talking about. After some time talking to the Mizuno camp they are very excited to launch these new offerings. Harry there lead designer out did him self. The player feedback has been outstanding.

As you can see these are true blades. The soles are thin as the Titleist 695 mb's if not thinner. The Pictures speak for themselves.

Sweet looking sticks. I assume the COG is higher with teh weight taken fromt eh lower portion of the cavity, producing a lower ballflight, more true blade like. With the placement of the cut muscle, I wonder if it will feel weird, with less meat behind the sweetspot.

hmmm, they only look ok..... i much prefer the look of the 32's. Maybe the lettering makes them look "less smooth". but then again, the 32's are the sexiest clubhead ever...

my understanding of club design theory is not good. A thin sole means it is more liekly to hit fat shots right? A thicker sole will have a bit more resistance to digging in ground, or is that more a function of bounce?

Or is it that a thinner sole just means less mass below the ball, thus moving the COG higher, leading to a less forgivign iron?

 

Can someone explain the pros/cons of thick v. thin when it comes to sole depth, I would greatly appreciate it...

Great scoop! Picks of this iron have to be one of the best kept secrets in a while.

 

Agreed that they are not as sexy as 32s or 60s, but they look functional. Some hit the 32s too high. These look like a tragectory control blade with the playability of the 33 with the flight of the 29.

 

Ironic that a company theat had the T-Zoid bar concentrating mass beind the hitting zone is now removing it. Computers are amazing.

 

Tell the 'running bird' logo to take a hike. To me it is a Baseball/Volleyball logo.

Exactly! They must be trying to solve that high ball flight issue. Might be my next iron purchase! I loved my 33s!

More mass, more "effective bounce". But a wider sole with less roll and a sharp leading edge will dig more than a thinner sole with more roll and a killed leading edge with the same measured bounce.

 

As told by insiders here the sole is the same configuration as the MP-33 and highly approved of on Tour.

Super! I must say, not what I was expecting, but they do look really good. Probably more demanding to hit than the mp32. At first glance, personally i'd perfer the MP32, but I do like the look of these. I'm sure all the MP37 users are interested.

I would like to try. But, it really looks too wired to me. By looking at them, I like my 32s and 14s better.

Just talked with our Mizuno rep here because we are ordering a set. Ship date according to him is September 5th. Oh and he asked where he could see the pictures because he hadnt seen them yet.

I think they want the guys who won't change out of their mp33s (The pureists) to give these a real try. I'm sure the specs on these are very similiar to the mp33s, but lean more towards the performance of the 37s. I doubt anybody on the tour has complaints about the 32s. Just My Opinion. They look great, very traditonal blade.

I've had the MP33's and the MP30's and my only complaint was how boxy the PW was toward the hosel. I might be seeing things but it really looks like they cleaned the PW up with this design. Maybe I bought the 695's too soon :help:

pw-8 = mp-67, 7-5 = mp-32, and 4-3 = mp-60 - that would be a sweet set.
