Best Stand Bag for riding and carrying?

Recommended Posts

I've got several Ping Hoofers (not excited about newer models), Ogio, SM4.5, SM Swifts and Titleist Premium. I guess at the end of the day I keep going back to the SM4.5 for walking and Titleist Premium for cart riding. Something about not having the clubs tangled up at the bottom keeps me from going postal during a bad round.

I really like my Sasquatch Tour.

It has individual club full length dividers and quick clips to remove the straps for cart use. It is light enough to carry and has all the features of a cart bag including a insulated cooler.

It really is the best of both worlds. I have not seen another bag that has more features for both applications and really does them both well.

Just started using my new 2012 SunMountain 4/5. Great bag, I've had the past couple models and this one is much improved. The material in the pockets is of a stiffer material so you can zip the pockets with one hand. The zippers are better quality and easy to move. The 'handles' on the zippers are better and very easy to grip. The water bottle pocket is easy to get to, doesn't rub on your hip, and big enough for two bottles. The individual club 14 slot divider on top is lined with a grey color material instead of white and won't show wear and dirt. Best stand bag I've owned.

Currently rocking a Sun Mountain SM3.5 that is a couple years old. Great bag, and seems like they have fixed a number of the flaws in the more recent iterations. The biggest issue with my version is club tangling, thinking about upgrading to a SM4.5 due to this. Otherwise, I haven't used a bag that compares to SM quality.

Looking for a new bag that fits the criteria of this poll (if the price is right).
I had a PING Hoofer years ago and it was definitely NOT waterproof.
Have any of you tested the above models in the rain? I don't trust the manufacturers word in this regard.

I skimmed through but did not read every reply

I would say i am a 60/40 in favor of walking.

I purchased a Sun Mountain Four5 this spring and it has been very disappointing in terms of quality.

The CFB is not so friendly, any time i ride alone the bag always winds up at a 45 degree angle in the cart. The overall quality of the bag was terrible, The stand came apart by july, the straps began to tear about the same time, the rain cover is too small.

It sounds like a rant but i assure you its not, i have had one other sun mountain bag back in my college days and had a good experience, and that was what brought me back to the brand. But i do think after this experience i will be hesitant, and will more than likely go back to a Ping bag. I dont expect the world out of a bag but i play a solid 4-6 rounds per week and i sure expect to at least get a season out of it, which i without some duct tape and epoxy i would not have gotten.

I've had the same experience in a cart: bag at an angle, though it's a little better if you put it on the right side.

But as far as quality goes, it's A1 for me, but I've played about 25 rounds with it.

The new 2013 Titleist Premium 14-way bag is going to be pretty amazing. Enough so that I ordered one, expected to ship mid to late October. Mine was custom ordered through the Naval Academy Golf Club so it will come embroidered with "Bill the Goat" and USNA logos. Can't wait :)

Hmm...well...I should I put this.

One of the seams on one of the straps is falling apart. I doubt it will last another 25 rounds like that if I don't do something about it. I noticed that today.

It is disappointing to say the least.

I have an Adidas Clutch 2.0 stand bag that I have had since early spring and love it. The way they have made the slots in the top make for easy access to clubs whether the bag is standing on the ground, in a cart or in my Clicgear 3.0. The best part is, my club pro got it for me for $35 shipped. Check Ebay, you can get these cheap and they are great bags.

The Sun Mountain bags are nice but I like the Nike Performance carry/stand bags and have bought the new hybrid version which I do not like as much as the previous years model! The bag seemed cheaper made and had a funny color tint on some pockets like a light violet color. I find it to have a lot of pockets. The cooler and storage for your watch or whatever it may be for something of value! The padding is nice on the shoulders and is not that heavy. Only thing in the hybrid new version is it does have a soft handle that is unlike the previous versions that have the hard handles that if the bag is not adjust properly or you hunch when you walk it may dig into your back a little. I have rode and walked with it though and never had a problem either way. Plus I like the 14 way club divider but a little more room per slot would be nice.

I want to know as well ? I'm really wanting to pull the trigger on this Nike Performance carry bag
Do you mean the "original" Nike Performance carry bag or this year version of it (I think) the Nike Performance Hybrid Carry bag?

I have the original Nike Performance Carry bag and like it alot! It's light, many pockets, nice strap. Overall a very good bag, I have mine at another location otherwise I wouldn't be looking for opinions about a new bag (the Nike Performance Hybrid bag)

I have this bag also and probably the best bag I have ever had. The strap pass thru is starting to rip though and have had over a year, so looking for new bag. Wanted to just buy a new 2013 but they removed the drink pocket on the back. So now the hunt it on to find maybe a new alternative, but probably end up with just buying a new 2013 as really good bags.

What is your choice and why?
I have the Nike Performance Hybrid Stand Bag. I think it's one of the best given the amount of storage and pockets, 14 way dividers + putter well, but at the same time has comfortable straps to carry. The name speaks for itself, its the perfect blend of a carry and cart bag.

I mostly ride but don't like bulky cart bags. Hate it when they tip over when there's no rack/stands around...especially at my range. Four5 checks a lot of boxes for me. Only 5.5lb with big 10.5" opening and 14 way dividers too!
