Best Stand Bag for riding and carrying?

I'm completely happy with the SM4.5. You just have to make sure you don't overload it when you're going to carry.

I have a Titleist 14 section bag; a Sun Mountain C130 and on a whim tried the Sun Mountain 3.5 for a few rounds.

That was over 1 year ago....the SM 3.5 just makes more sense. It's certainly light, and is still sturdy enough and has enough capacity to be a cart bag too. I play over 50 rounds a year. Based on your post - I pulled out all the things currently stuffed into the bag:

17 balls (it could hold a lot more)
I keep a "Black Widow Spikes" box for my tees, markers and divot repair tools
Rain jacket
5 gloves
Rain cover
Bushnell 1600

The warning is that the bag feels very flimsy....but I can testify that the legs are strong and the integrity of the fabric is intact. Surprising to say the least. Pleasantly surprised - would highly recommend.

Love my 09 Ogio Grom. I prefer the Woode top to the 14 divided. It can be heavy if you load for bear when carrying but overall it is a great bag IMHO.

I have the Titleist Lightweight standbag '11 and it sucks. Worst bag ever. The Ping hoofer is the best bag ever made. End of discussion.

i voted for the sun mountain superlight 3.5 due to its new cart-friendly features. lightweight. great stand AND now it works well on a cart, too = no compromise!!

I would choose the Titleist 14 way stand bag. to me, it is just great because it does offer the 14 way individual divided slots, legs, nice pockets, just a sharp bag.

You didn't include Titleist as an option.

Brother has an Ogio Edge, pretty solid to carry but fits brilliantly on a cart

I have a Ping Latitude. It is the WORST Ping bag I've ever had. Clubs won't come out or in. Putter slot is a joke.

I should have returned it but didn't. Too late now - my fault.

IMO the Hoofers are too heavy for carrying. 4 Under doesn't have enough pockets for riding. SM 3.5 is right in the middle and the best of both worlds.

I currently own a Hoofer and 4 Under and switch between the two.

I just ordered the SM hybrid bag and the SM micro pushcart. I think this will make a great bag and buggy combo. It will give me the option to carry or push. I will carry for the 9 holes on a weekday after work and use the cart on the saturday. Best of both worlds and a reasonable sized bag with space.

Has anyone used the sun mountain push cart? Please pm so this thread doesn't go off topic.

I voted for the sun mountain 3.5. For me it is the best bag out there, light and functional. All the pockets you could want and better this year with the cart friendly bottom

+1 for the Ogio Edge. Easy to carry over 18 and fits well on carts. Ogio are number 1 with all the right pockets in the right places

I'm guessing there is not a lot of people who tried the SLX yet since the votes are so low? I thought the SLX is similar to 3.5 except for the strap.

I know that 3.5 is the one that won the awards, but SLX is reviewed by a lot of people too. I'm still deciding if I should go for the 3.5 or SLX. I'd be carrying if I'm playing 9-hole and use a cart if it's 18-hole (or even carry if the course is short). Now I know that both of the 2011 versions will fit the carts easily, but how about ease in carrying? Some have said the strap for SLX is easier for one shoulder carry, while some say the 3.5 is just equally easy.

I'm actually considering the Four 5 too because of the divider system. (Replaced with Hybrid for 2012 I think?) But there is no mentioning that it is cart-friendly on the official site. Coming to divider system, I suppose the 4-way divider on the SLX and 3.5 wouldn't cause my clubs to get stucked since it's actually a patent-pending design? Or is it meant to reduce the weight?

I'm actually only planning on investing in just one bag that I could both carry and use on cart . (I've only started picking up golf ) Would appreciate if anyone can give me any advice on it.

Deffinatley the four 5, it's light weight, 14 way dividers, plenty of pockets. A little pricey though

I had the Nike Sasquatch Tour bag, but I just bought the Sun Mountain Hybrid bag ebay for $195. I went with something lighter, and the hybrid bag looks great as well.

I saw this new Nike bag today at a demo. I hate walking with any bag over 4lbs. The problem is that light bags lack options. This bag has all the bells and whistles and weighs in under 4. I am getting one, for sure.

Didn't know there are so many light bags out there lol. I read the review that SM's 2011 Superlight 3.5 is the lighest bag out there @ 4.5lb and I thought that was impressive itself for a carry/stand bag lol.

IMO that bag is just too heavy to walk 18 with. I think SM weighs their bags without the stand and straps. Where Nike and Ping weigh as is.

Ping Hoofer C-1. I doesn't have anything sticking out at the base, so it fits nicely on a cart. It's easy to carry as well.

C-1 is very comfortable to walk with. The stand mechanism is great too. The dividing system sucks with it though. My clubs constantly get tangled and stuck trying to get them in and out. Its even worse when on a cart. Its still the best bag I have used to date (much better than Ogio Vaporlite - horrible stand, and Nike Tour - too heavy)

i have walked 18 with the bag no problems at all. It come down to how much gear you put in it and what is heavy to you may be reasonable to me.
