I know less than half of what you've posted. So as a newbie to WRX and to golf....

 

You're a Rickie fan or at least really like the results he's had since working with Butch Harmon. Part of you wants to believe that that mojo will help you and your game, but you know better because you are that good! Part of why you play cobra is because you think that the bigger companies are overrated and you don't buy into the hype...you didn't actually purchase the driver, you won it in a club tournament and just replaced the shaft with what you've been comfortable with. Your previous driver was a Cobra and just couldn't best the Bertha in terms of feel, distance, and control...maybe there is something to this "hype" after all?

 

Tall huh? At least taller than me and so the width of your swing is helping you to drive a good 280+ and you prefer feel which is why you play those MB's that I cannot for the life of me contact consistently, and also why you play with an older putter...as swingblues pointed out on my bag, it's your "trusty rusty" and I'm not referring to your wedges.

 

Admittedly I had to google your clubs to see what they were. As a result, I see you are a player. I wouldn't bet with you because even with our cap differences, you'd still whoop my.......you probably play to a 6-8 cap and could teach me many things.

 

How's that???? I'm no swingblues but I enjoyed writing it.

Yeah I might think the same looking at the bag but I'm not a huge Rickie fan(although I dig the orange). I put this bag together after being away from the game for a number of years and it just ended up being all Cobra. I always like less common gear for some reason. I don't like having the same clubs as my buddies and playing partners but I always like very traditional looking clubs. You were close on the driver. I found it in a bargain bin for $100 at a sporting goods store. It was better than what I had so I put it in the bag. And you were right about preferring feel. That's why I still prefer steel shafts in my woods but I figure I'm giving up too much distance to keep using them. I used to be 1 handicap but have no idea now cause I've only been to the range so far. Not even sure what ball to play. The last dozen balls I bought were Precept. Don't think they even make those anymore lol.

You use to wear Fowler's tight baseball pants but you were laughed out of the course on a few occasions, leaving you with a deep rooted hatred for the look associated with this scruffy chap. To spite the golf gods, you purchased a Big Bertha. This will take the stigma away, you thought. However, you never believed Bertha would be that good. A nice big face, accompanied with a spider like crown, with plenty of forgiveness has given you back the confidence those pants squeezed out of you.

You are a bit tall and not too coordinated. Quite frankly, you are a goofy sucker. You look terrible in high tops and Fowler tights. You know this. Yet, you stay with cobra because it works for you. At some point you worked on your game enough to play good. You overcame the years of oppression your clumsy nature unleashed on you and now you play Cobras with the hope that someday the company will make you your very own wrestling suit.

Does this guy have some kind of problem with me or something?

Something tells me you didn't really test many clubs before either buying these off the rack or for a song on the bay. And I think you forgot to mention that you use a ping hoofer bag as well. You keep the headcovers on at all times and you clean your club after every shot. And you keep some driveway markers in your bag, but you probably never use them. Or maybe even never go to the range.

This could be fun :) I wouldn't put up a dollar in a match against you... If the FT-5 and Steelhead are still in the bag it's because you can flat out rake with them. You want people to believe that your not sold on the most recent technology, but somewhere deep down you know there is a difference. That's the only explanation for the brand new wedges and newer putter. You place a premium on your short game (as any gamer should) and in the bag slots where it really matters your sporting new stuff.

 

Even though I wouldn't play you with any cash on the line, I'd certainly enjoy the opportunity to play 18 and hear that FT-5's muted thwack

I'd say that's a pretty accurate analysis! Although these days, you might be safe putting up a couple dollars against me as I don't get to get out & play as much as I once did...haha Definitely not entirely sold on the new technology (or the looks of most new drivers/woods :bad: ); but I willl say that I do have a G30 LS headed my way to see if it can knock the ol FT-5 out of the bag :) The steelhead is hideous, missing all kinds of paint, and probably needs to be reshafted...but that thing will will probably be in the bag until I die!

 

Just picked up the new vokeys this year, and the new grinds have definitely helped me step up the short game; I was coming from old (07) SM's that didnt even have conforming grooves..haha

 

And the Yes! is actually one longest tenured clubs in the bag; and I've never seen another one quite like it...I live in colorado, and met local guy back in the day (either through here or BSG) who supposedly got it direct from the factory before they sent it out on tour. I've been meaning to post up some pictures to see if anyone could give me some further info on it.
