This thread is great. I'm addicted to checking it out multiple times a day. Let's see how close someone can guess my game, my bag consists of the following:

Nike SQ Tour 9.5° w/UST V2 76 gram S-Flex
Nike T60 15° w/Dynamic Gold S300 steel pured
Nike Forged Pro Combo Tour 2-PW w/Dynamic Gold S300 steel 2° flat
Vokey CC 54 and 58 (flat as possible)
Odyssey White Ice #1
Pro V1X

You are a really good player, Approaching Scratch if you aren't already there. You probably hit it around 280, but hit it high. You are a great ball striker with a good wedge game. If you knocked down a few more of those birdie putts, you'd really go low. Probably about 35, and you use what clubs work. The ones that work well for you stick until they don't work anymore or are worn out. Anywhere close?
[/quote]

Close but a little off on the scoring right now. I took a few years off from the game ('07 till August of '11), so my game suffered a bit. I'm shooting low to mid 80's after a few rounds but lose most of my strokes on one or two blow up holes (I'm talking snowman here). Birdie putts are missed frequently so you are correct there. 280 is just about spot on with an occasional 300+ yarder. I'm 37. I use to be caught up in matching brands, but have recently began to think I just want the club that works. ie I've never thought of hitting a Cleveland driver until I hit a TL310 the other day. Was getting 280 carries with 2700 back spin and 9-11 launch angle, so I may have found my next driver. Gonna demo the club to make sure it wasn't a good day fluke.

Thanks for the response, this thread is fun to follow.

Okay here goes nothing. You are very young, under 20 maybe even under 18. You play whenever you get the chance, which is pretty often. You are strong and swing quickly, long driver (275ish). Your miss is left and you are a pretty good ball striker. Handicap around 6 give or take a couple strokes. Let me know how I did.

wealthy older golfer who took up the game late and loves Titleist but probably should be playing Ping. Spends alot of time at the range. Probably hits the driver/3 wood/17 hybrid/21 hybrid the same distance. 5 iron is like new. Gets around in low 90's due to never losing a ball.

Haha I'm only 28 but everything else is on point or close. (I don't hit all those clubs the same distance! Well maybe 3 wood off the deck vs hybrid 17). And yes Ping clubs are too ugly for me. And I live half a mile from the range so I go often hahaha.

Feeling judgemental today. Let's see......

Ghost putter, Niblick, Tp wedges tell me you don't have a clue on how to score. R7 Draw Irons, "divorcing" for Machspeeds tells me your iron game is crap, you're experimenting with fairways/hybrids so your long game blows, and you hate your driver. You sir are a menace to speedy rounds and I hope I never have to play with you.

Am I close?

What will they say? Nothing, 90% of people I play with don't know about Bridgestone clubs. Those in the know, they will say traditionalist with enough technology.

I hope nobody's taking me too seriously. I'm just trying to liven up a dreary Monday afternoon.

BTW, that's really a nice bag. You can play your bag for the rest of your life. Its always a hoot when I get matched up with an old timer with DCI's. They've always game. In fact anybody playing old DCI's usually has game.

Asian club snob but can't afford the good stuff so he bags B-stone. Smooth, like Keith Stone. OK, now the breakdown:

I don't know about your game but I bet I know what kind of tires are on your car.

I'd say you're an anal single digit and your wife better have your dinner ready when you get home.

Oh wait, you're single because Bridgestone hasn't made a women yet. lol

Just kidding, but that's a players' set. I would assume you have the game for it and I would also assume you're OCD and would freak out when I walk in your line and jingle change in my pocket.

Haha. In a sense you're correct and at the same time I feel I should be offended and ashamed. I am in no way like most of the members on this forum (low to scratch handicappers) as I only play whenever I can (perhaps 2-3 times a month).

As for the Ghost Putter I picked it up because I really liked it and improved my putting. The putter was my only club in my bag that I haven't swapped out in over a decade (had a Ping Anser before).

I am unsure about the Niblick. I just wanted to give it a shot as it seems interesting. I am not ashamed to be seen carrying a "chipper" though. I like to use what works. I have used Vokeys, Callaway X Forged and TEE wedge sets before and I just like the feel of theTM TP wedges.

I do know how to score....I just can't do it well.

My iron game is probably crap compared to 95% on the forum here but amongst my friends I play well (we all play only occasionally for fun and shoot 90-105) and I don't feel any shame in using SGI irons considering the limited amount of time I can dedicate to the sport. I am switching to the machspeeds because they just go straight and I am trying to move away from the TM closed club faces (not sure how much more neutral the Machspeeds are in reality).

I am only experimenting with my hybrids because my 3 and 4 hybrid are too close in distances and I honestly can't do the CB2 3 wood justice. I hit both hybrids over 200 so I figure a 2 hybrid or a 4 wood might be a better option for me. When I dial it in I will drop the CB2 and one of my existing hybrids.

As for the driver I finally found one that I can consistently hit the fairway with + good distance and roll. I'm only swapping for the newer model mainly for cosmetic differences as I agree with most that the SQ Square is an ugly driver (but it works for me).

Not trying to be defensive here as I love this forum but your last part was completely wrong. I respect the game, play the game fairly and am very mindful of the time. I pick up the ball when I am having a poor day and move on. If a really good group comes up behind me and asks if I will let them play through I have no problems with that. I find that I am actually much faster at teeing off and make an effort to locate balls much faster then some of the "better" players that I have been grouped with. Some "better" golfers annoy the heck out of me as they would literally not give up on locating their ball because it is so crucial to their score and hold up the whole course or spend 2 minutes going through their pre tee shot ritual.

I love golf. I admit I suck. I want to improve and we all started somewhere so don't be a hater or too judgemental when you run into someone like me.

Decent player with s56 irons, looking good with the ball marked in the middle, probebly a trainer due to the marks on my driver caused by some gravel in the head cover, slim wedge selection so hopefully i make due...
And a black redwood anser with a Iomic grip that has a tendensy to turn heads...

Short Word one of those young players that hangs around and pratices a loot.

It made my dreary Monday betterrolleyes.gif

I forgot my "lol" after the "hope I never have to play with you" statement. Hey, it's tough to get out enough to improve, but you can always chip and putt on the carpet. Go to golf18.com and see if they have any specials in your area. You can play super cheap on there. Just play two balls, you against you, and record both scores. Cheaper than the range and a heck of a lot more productive. Crappy courses around here, but big deal. And if you catch up to a slow 4some just skip 'em.

Best advise I ever heard was from an old guy who said "You're not supposed to shoot in the 70's. You work for a living." LOL!

When I see S series irons I know the player takes the game seriously, Bobby Jones could mean someone who practices like crazy with their wedges and wants wedges that won't wear out. Machine putter says you're too good of a putter for a normal flat stick. DET is slolid stick. White head driver-hmmm....probably long hitter. Probably. Yeah, probably long hitter, lots of driver wedge, good putter. Only use irons off tee on par 3's, otherwise going for all par 5's in 2 and most par 4's are driver wedge or short iron. I ain't playing you for money. I'd guess you could step out of the car and shoot 80 on a tough track, and probably 70's on normal 6000 yd courses.

A month ago, someone would have said that I was a wannabe pro. Now they would have to say that I have now faced reality by pulling the MP-68s and dropping in the MX-300. Shot a 76 from the blues at Heritage Golf in Wake Forest NC yesterday with them! Starting to wish that I did this earlier.....
