When I think of iconic, I think of a hole that your average run of the mill golfer could identify, not just is golf nuts. I think if you showed pictures to a handful of weekend warriors, sawgrass would probably be the most identifiable. Not the most picturesque but I think a lot of people know that hole.



Fwiw, cypress is a breath taking hole!

#12 at Augusta, Golden Bell. Have you ever seen so many pros throw grass in the air, look at the trees, talk to their caddy so much for a 150 yard par 3?

Fifteen at Cypress is even more amazing, IMHO. Besides, I parred that one and double 16.

So I'll only give 16 a +100 and save some for 15.

However, those are for us golf nuts. Eighteen at Pebble is pretty darn iconic for us and for the more normal people.

How about #15 at North Berwick. It's the original Redan and one of the most copied hole in golf.

Another possibility is #17 at TPC Sawgrass (one of the ones pictured by the OP). Love it or loathe it, the Island Green is also one of the most widely recognized and copied holes in golf.

17 at Sawgrass is shorter (130-140) and there's more train wrecks there than 12 at Augusta. JMHO.
