Shortest Hole Ever?

If you have a 90 yard hole, it ought to have a sloping green that doesn't handle mediocre shots well. Good for it... odd that it's a finishing hole, though.

Woodmont Golf Club north of Atlanta has a downhill par 3 over water that plays about 117 from the tips, but 103 for most member tournaments. It's a great hole. Bunker behind, water in front, green slopes back to front-- don't hit it in that bunker or you've got a short bunker shot to a green sloping away from you and water beyond.

Number 13 at pawleys plantation in south Carolina. 69yds from white tees... Nasty little tiny green, out in the marsh, island green basically.

Played a course in Taiwan with a hole like that only the drop is .... dunno .... about 600 feet easily. You take a mountain lift down after the shot, you never see the green until you come down.

There's a 14-hole par-3 course that goes around my wife's grandmother's condo complex in Daytona Beach, and it has a 41-yard hole.

Also an 18-hole par-3 course in Port Isabel, Texas with a 47-yard hole. It's over water to a postage-stamp green, and the use of a tee is required on the tee box by the geriatric turds who run the place, so it's a trickier shot than one might think.

The 3rd hole at Mendota Heights Par 3 in MN is 75 yards. #9 is 90. Used to play a bar league there and that dinky 3rd hole was the most hated hole on the course.

My home course has a hole that's 120 from the tips, typically it plays 115 though... There's a 30 of so foot drop to the green which is very tough... Green funnels balls to 3 flatter parts which almost always leaves great shots 10 feet away... I typically hit a choke down 52*.... Course is a 137 slope from the tips

Middletown CC in Philly had a short, under 100 yard drop shot hole -- haven't played there in 20 years -- don't know if they've changed it

Ugh...I remember that hole. I hated it. You're right, it's essentially an island green with breezy conditions...

The 2nd hole on the executive 9 hole course at Lake Chabot in Oakland is 66 yards uphill. The green is probably around 20ish feet above the hole so it is a blind shot to a tiny green. if you over shoot the green you have a chip from a downhill lie to the hole on a green that runs down hill towards the tee box. It's a testy little shot.

lol@ the people thinking a short, very tough green with lots of trouble is a terrible hole. It sounds like it's a great hole exposing flaws in people's games, which is what great holes do.

Do executive courses count? If so, there's a par 3 course a couple blocks from my house I'll play on occasion, with the shortest hole I've ever seen.

Check out #10 on the scorecard - 60 yards. And that 60 yds is generous. Its downhill and routinely plays under 50 yards. Still no hole in one for me there though.

The rest of course is actually pretty decent too. Lots of elevated tees, with a lot of shots over the river and ponds, sloping greens, and with woods/OB if you hit it crooked.

Par 3 course near me, #7 plays 105, green was reworked, but used to be at at least 25* slope back to front. Rediculous! Was always wet, so I'd try to thin something into it and hope it plugged, green was maybe 15 feet wide too.

Sharp Park Golf Course in Pacifica, CA, 18-hole course. Hole #8 - 91 yards from the Blue, White and Red Tees. 7th most difficult hole for that course.

Ther shortest hole I've seen is the 8th at Penninsula State Park in Wisconsin. 69 yards from the tips, 66 from the reds. The tee box sits on a cliff about 65 feet above the green. Fun hole and more challenging than you may think.

when I played Beth Page Red after the US open on of the hole was made into a par 3. It had to have been 40yards long.

postage stamp at royal Troon plays about 120 yards. put some wind in play and it can be devilishly difficult.

#3 at Lake Doster in Plainwell MI ... 90-110yd shot about 100 feet downhill, they say it's 120 yds but I've never seen that tee box. Shallow wide green with water in front and in back of the green. Just a disaster of a hole. 1/2 wedge of some sort, hit and hope.

Love that hole, but the spooky thing is the road right behind it. If you don't know your distance, and my dad did not, you're bouncing off the road and praying no cars are driving by.
Growing up the little par 30 course I frequented had a 78 yard hole or something. Nothing special but I never did well there. I'm a fan of making a little par 3 difficult.

I had 93 yards on #7 at Pebble the other day. I hit a 3/4 lob wedge about 20 feet below the hole thanks to the 10-15 mph breeze blowing in behind us and from the right. I watched one guy try to hit a sand wedge and it didn't up well...

It's probably the #6 handicap hole because it assumes the scratch player will hit it close, having a reasonable chance at birdie, plus the hazard factor for poor players. Hole handicapping does not mean that it is the 6th most difficult hole on the course.

Shortest I have played is #7 at Pebble, mentioned several times all ready. Considering it plays downhill, it's effectively shorter than that. But you play the hole in a 25+ mph cross wind, well, it can be a beast.

Anything shorter than 100 from the back markers is fairly rare even on an old course. Just looks odd to only see two digits on the card.
