I've got 2 on the way..the wait is definitely brutal

I'd like to say that he is right on with his estimated times but that hasn't been the case with my 2 previous builds. I'm hoping this will be different this time around. Crossing my fingers. His work is fantastic so it is worth the wait in the end but never easy to wait and hear nothing in the meantime. I'll most likely send him a message to get an update but I know he's a busy guy for sure.

 

A couple builders have been much faster with my builds but it all depends how many projects they are taking on.

Yeah I really like lump and his work. Hopefully sooner than later....I can't putt with my wife's anser for much longer or I will go crazy!!!

Patience is key here. These solo small putter makers all take time. They put so much work into each putter they are constantly fall behind. Most of the time communication is slow until they start building your putter. I should also add...the guys who offer the most options often take the longest to build too.

 

If you can't be patient...this custom putter business will drive you crazy.

This is very true. I've had several built and they have all been really different in terms of time. The waiting makes for an expensive timeline because I usually Ho other parts of the bag in the meantime, haha

The wait is always brutal. But worth it in the end.

 

I paid around the same time as cz13ZX4 and finally heard back yesterday that I was on the horizon. Not sure if that means beginning the build or completion, but I am dying to see how this turns out.

Trust me I know about building a few customs. Thankfully it's been quite rainy here.....helps with the wait. I did get a pic of my cover a few weeks back which was great. I think most of my putter might be done he has had trouble with getting the insert material. He said he will get pics of the putter so I'm optimistic it's soon! Lumpy is great, and I can't wait to get it. I'm surprised how quiet the xenon stuff has been.

I agree, I saw his Website is just gone, not many posts to FB or Twitter, and He hasn't posted on PT in over a month. :(

 

I am always looking at his next project to see what he is doing and it's been very very slow and quiet.

 

Hopefully you get yours soon, and me as well. I am dying over here with anticipation

Yeah it was a bad year with Ivan and Johnny both going. I am sure the relationships he shared with those 2 were on a different level than we can see. How it effected him, we will never know. Tough I am sure.

 

Yeah Lump just did an awesome putter for a buddy of mine, came out sick, and he never even posted pics of it anywhere. There is a ton of detail in this thing. I wish he would have posted it for the world to see.

 

My dad wants to do 2 Xenon customs for my little brother and himself now, (our last name is Uselton so means something special). Hopefully I get down to TN this year and get to tee up with Lump.

Very nice! I was told I would get pics a few times but never did. Also told it would be done a few days ago but haven't heard........ I've had bad dreams the last few nights that it didn't even come close to my design and looked like a third grader welded, glued and hacked something together lol. So dying to see it!

Oh I know it won't look like a 3rd grader made it...just sharing how anxious I am and a few putter dreams. Didn't know an update on my status wasnt ok. I will keep my experience to myself.

I have messaged and I don't get answers...i get short 4 word updates maybe once a week. None of my messages are in a negative tone, just wanting updates. And this thread is about stories and most other threads also accommodate experiences. These experiences can also help future clients know what they could encounter. It's not just longer than I anticipated, it is longer than I was told without ever giving me a correct updated timeline. I have nothing against Lump at all, I'm just in a time crunch with traveling and moving which he knows about. In two weeks it will have been 3 months....that's a bit more than 4-6 weeks, and in two weeks I will be gone for a very long time, and had hoped to take it with me, otherwise i won't see it until august. I still look forward to my putter and granted it turns out, would not hesitate to have him build more, I would just pick a less busy time if there is one.

 

That being said, I look forward to everyone's putters, I know lump is a very busy craftsman.

I assure you I know how this feels. Both my customs took much longer than originally specified. Regardless, I hope your putter is made soon and you love it.

 

That being said...there have mow been 3 lighten up votes...so I'll aknowledge my grumpiness.

Well, lump said...

 

This is my toughest one to date. Never made one with a screwed in insert so it's taking longer than I planned. I'm the machine making it so I've had to scrap some attempts.

 

He has had to scrap one head and two inserts so far. I gave some alternate options so we will see which way he goes. The wait is still tough but I know it will be awesome.

I do think there may be a dead email address floating around out there somewhere, but I have always had really good luck with email. In fact I was fully set to pull the trigger with a different putter maker but became frustrated that I couldn't seem to get any responses to a few questions I had. I found Xenon, and Lump has always been really responsive and helpful. Here are some pics of the Kutlas I just got this weekend.
