High Speed DIGITAL Camera

Recommended Posts

Dap, also see the posts below. Maybe iteachgolf and hstead can set their cameras to 60fps and 1/20000 and let us know the results.

Shutter speed determines blur not the number of frames per second. I have plenty of video ive shot at 30fps but at 1/40,000 shutter speed that has no blur at all. FPS determines how much of the motion is captured, ie the distance the club head travels before each subsequent frame. 120fps is plenty for golf and I use it/have used it almost daily for years.

Many of these cameras that will do 120 and 240 fps do not have manually adjustable shutter speeds and have an automatically selected shutter speed depending on the light available. Even though they select 1/2000 sec, though, that shutter speed is still not quite fast enough to see the clubface well. I have a Canon that will do 240 fps and when the shutter is at 1/2000, I can still have trouble. Yet, with my Casio I can select 60 fps and a shutter of 1/40,000 and can see the shaft just fine.

When the sun is bright and the Canon camera selects 1/2000 at 120 fps it is pretty decent, and you can see quite a lot really.

Looks like a good camera. Can adjust iso to compensate. Would like to actually use one first outside to see quality but with iso adjustability and a fixed aperture you could all but ensure you would getting 1/20,000. Might definitely consider one if I got to use one in person to confirm what I believe is true

One of the best features of the Casio's is the in the camera editing feature that is very intuitive and easy to use. I can take HS video of 10 swings (15 min. of video) and fully edit that down to about 2 minutes of video before I even leave the range. The value of that is highly underrated when discussing HS video cameras

Just have a laptop and dont want to spend $1000 on a iphone or ipad. I have the ex f1 for my own use and for lessons, its quite good except the clubface clarity is not brilliant on the downswing. Just thought technology might have moved on and gotten better quality high speed video with better picture quality. Willing to spend up to 500. Also I want to be able to have it on a tripod.

Your settings are wrong if the clubface isn’t clear on the F1. It’s completely manually adjustable and shouldn’t have any issues with blur if setup correctly

@iteachgolf did you download an app to do that? I don’t see this capacity it my settings (6s plus) but saw articles to download an app for a couple of bucks that enables this...

That was replying about the Casio F1. Having an F1 and using it in auto mode is almost worthless.

Ok I got a new EX F1 and have tried doing what you suggest but cant find how to adjust the shutter speed. I looked up the instructions but it just seems to adjust the shutter speed for photos not video.

With as much as I video my swing just hitting balls or playing can’t imagine carrying around a camera just for that anymore. iPhone or any phone with high speed video is such a convenience. Highly recommend getting a phone instead with a screen big enough to see. Use to lug my Casio around now it sits in my closet somewhere.

iPhone isn’t the only phone that does high speed plus sounds like iPhone isn’t a rip off if it does what you want. I use a tripod with my phone, attaches to anything but I attach it to my three wood in bag. I also don’t look like a dou*** bag with a giant camera on a tripod on the range

At very high shutter speeds the affects are minimal. And rolling shutter doesn’t affect the clubface really at all, it can affect the bend in the shaft. The only global shutter cameras you can use to film yourself with are gigE cameras and would require a laptop and cost thousands of dollars. I have several and use an iPad more than my gigE cameras. Zero issue getting clear clubface image, and the Casio F1 would be WAY better with respect to rolling shutter

It’s a fully adjustable manual camera. Can adjust literally every parameter you would want to. You see it on M setting and can set it. It’s the same for photos and video, you just hit a different button to start recording video vs taking a photo
