I'm definitely a stripe-sprayer. I will look like a professional on some shots and then hit the same distance but 30 yards left of target. It is frustrating.

How's the short game?
It is just getting better. Chase and Dan both noticed my lower body was too active during short chips and pitches. I'd never realized. I have been trying to quiet it down a little bit, specifically my right knee. It is been helping. Dan's technique is not too far off what I'd previously used. The only shot I really wanted to learn from him was the short, high, soft one. Lv_2_hack would just exploit me on this shot in our short game competitions.

clank roper.
I don't know what that even means ...
can we get a few nuggets of golf about his short game ideas or techniques? i know he preferes a square stance and different ball position and a variable of opening the clubface depending on the shot you want to hit. how about when you're short sided or in heavy rough or need a high soft pitch from the deep stuff? thanks guys.

Thanks for the link tembi. I miss reading threads where Dan explains exactly what is going on in a golf swing to the clueless robot minions. I used to learn a ton in those threads myself.

I learned my mind operates much like a stripe sprayer but my shots are very much clank sprayer too. Maybe that is my problem. I might try to talk Dan into maybe creating a 1-900 number where he just dishes out mental game help? I believe I have gone "full retard" with my mental game more than I have on swing feels.

This is a great thread. Thanks for the update QMANY. Nice swing. I don't post here often but noticed that LV is from Okc, and was wondering if he gives lessons? Fellow Oklahoman here.
He does give lessons, and I'd highly recommend him. He lives in OKC and plays out of Oak Tree National. Shoot him a PM.

Making some progress.

I text Dan the other day when I got frustrated hitting it left of left when I'd miss. The following day, I was hitting everything thin. Dan wanted to see some video to check it out. I was finally about to quickly get on camera today.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekeuTYExE-M&feature=share&list=UUYLOEGA7IWQC8v50FpyG2ag

Dan loved the position halfway down. I just have to trust it. He explained that I needed to get the R shoulder working down plane longer and the R elbow bent longer. When I'd run out of R arm (straightens too soon), the face closes to fast and I got left of left.

Back to the range tomorrow ...

Q who was your previous teacher? LV_2 or slicefixer?
That's not right. I think it was steveandersongolfrpo. Q has been reading the books that I think steveandersongolfpro has written.

I've been playing some really bad golf. I went from hitting some flush pulls/hooks to hitting nasty, wipey, slices. I don't know what is going on.

I played in a great two-man tournament in central Nebraska last weekend. It was a great experience, except for the fact I couldn't get off the tee box. It was embarrassing.

Dan has been incredibly helpful and responsive. I plan on getting him some video tonight so we can figure out what the hell is going on.

More importantly, lv_2_hack finally heeded my advice and is hitting the gym. Scary to think how long this guy will be.

all i meant was that 20 pounds distributed on your frame wouldnt look like much as comparednto someone like dan c. putting on 20 pounds.

dont feel bad bro....my youngest brother is 6'8" and is a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo........until he took it up and started working out I used to tell him that he was the only guy I knew that I could turn sideways and shave with him or that he was so tall and skinny that he wouldn't get wet in the shower.........he put on 60 pounds and is only visibly average athletic build now. difference is that now I don't say anything for fear of "accidently walking my chest into his foot"

Haha. Yeah we worked out hard in college and I got up to about 205. I got burned out so i quit lifting and have just maintained cardio since. I'm working out with 3 guys that I teach and our agreement was since I didn't make fun of them when I drove it 40 by them they couldn't make fun of me in the weight room. 4 workouts in and no one has laughed at me yet! Ha.

6' 7" and your peak was 205. Good lord eat some sirloin and grilled chicken before and after your workouts. And right before bed.

I think the reason your right arm is straight at impact is because at address you already reaching for the ball. The hands are not under the shoulders.

Faldo and the three Foley students

And the second reason is because your shoulders are closed at impact. For a bend right arm at impact you need to be more open with the upper body.

Not everyone has a very bent right elbow at impact and open shoulders. That doesn't mean they need to:
