WRX BIG HITTERS - Who is for real?

UGGHH seeing this too late. I am at my folks house in Conway right now. I am playing Myrtlewood tomorrow. Flying back to Boston tomorrow nite.

Played Legends-Heathland and MB Ntl-South so far. We tried playing Wild Wings for the late deal and the course was closed!!!!. I gotta say I wasn't impressed with Heathland and thought MB Ntl was more fun to play.

Bugs me when people drop in and get mad that other people hit it far and just say..."so what you hit it far, oh and your lying about how far you hit it". Just sour grapes. Let us have our fun. I have completed in a couple long drive competitions and reached 370 once. One the course I stay around 315. Now I never said its straight haha. But I swing the driver decent. Now let's hear the few that live to discredit that statement.... haha.

I don't know if you guys noticed but when I want to really rip into one (first video) look how I widen my stance a hair and then twist my back foot into the ground for ultimate explosive stability compared to my normal swing haha. That's my "Bomber Secret". What is yours?

I played regularly with a guy (not a WRXer) and he's normally about 20 - 30 yards past me with a very predictable draw (I'm a 100ss / 260 guy). Well this day we played a completely burnt out, rock hard seaside links in the howling wind, one of thoes out and in types. Front nine was just hilarious, downwind. I hit some 350 drives (he was lasering the tee box from where we finished) (100 yard roll) and he hit four that were well over 400. Completely condition based but fun to be pitching into a par 5.

The back nine was a bit more humbling

I'm a 250-is-a-good-drive kind of guy and I love this thread. The dunking a basketball comparison is spot on.

I did beat Brett Hull and Jeremy Roenick to win the longest drive in a charity tournament. Luckily they both missed the fairway.

I am going to second Tai (Pure). Dude can flat out boom it. Hit one of my better drives of all time with him around and we took the cart 10-15 yards further to his after I hit. I think he was just sandbagging me on the first hole of the Betti event when I joked I would ride my driver out to my ball if I outdrove him on the first hole just to see if I would actually follow through.

Fore-life can bomb it as well. I know you aren't feeling super confident with that at the moment, but I was watching you destroy that RBZ/Kai'li setup when we played together.

I have to agree with the comment about Mark (fore_life). I clearly remember the GPS on our cart saying 348 from the tee for one of his drives, when I had the pleasure to play with him last spring. It was not downhill and there was no wind to speak of, and most of his other drives were in that same category.
I hope golf is starting to become fun again, Mark.

Fellahs, I never said I hit it 340. It's 340 on the card, and a dogleg right about 60 yards from the green.

Best WAG we could make with the laser but no direct line of site was 310, all carry. Caught this one really sweet...one of those where you feel almost nothing at impact.

Last time I was on TrackMan was at HotStix in Scottsdale about 2 years ago. Quote from the fitter, "Man, you're club head speed is 115 or more every time but your tempo looks like you just fell out of bed."

Like I said, I'll let you guys make up your own minds.

Mmmmyeah gonna have to agree with the "hmmmm" here, but I wasn't there.

I've only played with a couple people on these forums so I can only vouch for them. ProBowler pokes it out there a good clip, if he ever says he's hit one 290-300 I wouldn't put that beyond the realm of possibility.

Agreed. I've been doing nothing but rolling my eyes at the people saying 'I've played with xxxxxxgolfwrx member and he can vouch I can hit it 320' that's not how this thread works.

I didn't start playing golf until I turned 50, so the long drive was never in the cards for me. I don't begrudge people who hit it far. I like to see those kinds of shots. Doesn't mean I don't work any less hard on my game...or play the correct tees. :-)

I'm going to vouch for bcflyguy since I have played with him. This guy absolutely moves the ball. And yes his tempo is very misleading but the ball gets up flattens out and just goes! It's almost freakish at times of how the ball just keeps going. Longest / smoothest hitter I have had the pleasure to play with.

I too can vouch for bcflyguy - I have played with him for the last 5 years. He moves the ball - I'm an old fart now = 64, but 15 - 20 years ago when Bubba and Boo were young guys and Joe Durant was thinking about quiting the game I played with them all and bcflyguy can keep up - his distance is better than Joe's, about what Boo does and nobody is touching Bubba. He can generate some club head speed!

I noticed the same thing a week or two ago when I was reading a really old thread he was commenting on. Any idea as to why? He always seemed to post pretty good information from what I remember.
