Okay.....

Lets just suppose that this thread gives birth to a long and healthy list of WRX'ers who are verified to bomb the ball 300+ yards.

Then what?

Nuthin.

We start a thread about who has the shortest iron approaches into par 5's. What a stupid question.

I haven't played with any wrx guys but have played with two guys this year that swing upper 120's and hit it 340-370. I gun one 3 hundo and get airmailed all day. Fun to watch. Weird to be 60 yards behind a playing companion
One of the guys was 5'10 and 150lbs. The other guy 6'1" and about 290

Then the "haters" start their thread about how they would would rather be 250 in the middle of the fairway instead of 300+ in the woods. Then in a witty and somewhat provoking response "big hitters" troll that thread and comment that if we want to be 250 in the fairway we grab a 4i off the tee. Then lots of back and forth and so on and so on. :)

I have played with Monte Scheinblum in the last 3 months. I have also played with a handful of long hitting amateurs who can hit the occasional drive 280-290 yards when they get after it, but frequently overestimate said drives by roughly 30 yards.

The difference between the two in this reporter's mind is considerable. I'm not trying to denigrate anybody, or accuse every amateur of exaggerating their drives by 30 yards the way some of my playing partners have. But I have seen Monte hit a GPS verified 358 in the middle of the fairway with his 44"-45" regular golf driver on a non-PGA prepped course, and it is completely unlike any regular golf drive I have ever seen by anybody else, ever. And yes, I've been to 6 PGA events in-person.

I have hit a ball 350 yards only one time and that was from an elevated tee box with an extreme helping wind. My ball landed in the rough and rolled a few yards. My buddy hit right before me down the fairway and the GPS came in at 380.

Under normal conditions, I have never played with anyone who has driven the ball over 320 yards. I've seen 315-ish several times.

If someone is truly driving the ball 350+ yards under normal conditions, that person has special abilities that the vast majority of us simply don't have.

Not very often do I play with someone who can out drive me. Maybe twice per year I get paired up with some guy who can actually smack it past me. Funny thing is, I am finding that I'm using my driver less and less these days because it does not put me at a yardage that I prefer to hit into the green from.

Whatever driver happens to be working at the time
Some random 3 wood
My same, old irons
A few wedges...

I am not short off the tee avg 280-290 so I am longer then MOST guys I play with but I play 1-3x a year with Homstylz....that kid can SMOKE it off the tee. When I 1st met him he was a 5'10 160lb kid..he was 60-70yds past me ALL day, hell his 3 wood = my driver. He has changed his swing to where is more carry, I would say he carries it 305-320 now with new little fwd roll. He is 3 irons longer then me. If I am hitting 6i, he is 9i. Best shot I ever saw. He had 289 in on this crazy long par 5, flushed a 3 wood into the green side bunker pin high...he was < 5 feet right from being on the green.

One of my regular playing partners is a member on WRX, and he hit FOUR balls over 400 in a ReMax qualifier with his 44.5" 7.5* Cleveland Comp (his everyday gamer.) I'll let him out himself if he wants to. I had him fit on the tour van by a buddy, who laughed when I told him how far he hit it. 2nd swing, he flew it 367 according to Trackman. He looked at me and said "I've got nothing for him."

i play about once a month with goosehook. i'm about average, 275 is a good one for me. my best ones might creep up to 3bills (downhill downwind with a srixon xv, lol). i am a little schoolgirl compared to goose. we played recently at army navy country club, and he drove it 330 on a 460 yard par 4. carried it 320 over a fairway bunker. laser verified. completely redonkulous.

abbvt isn't too shabby either. and i've heard tokillamockingbird is unreal, but haven't had the pleasure to see it in person yet.

i used to think i was pretty long. being humbled is good for the soul.

First off, Brian is probably the coolest guy in LD. When I was defending champion, he was the last hitter. On his last ball, with none in the fairway, he missed the fairway and it kicked back in to beat me. He says it landed in, but you can hear Jay Randolph and Big Cat call it on the ESPN.

I still give him a hard time about it and he takes it with good humor...and probably calls me a bitter a-hole when I'm not around...which is true...lol.

He's not up there with the LD guys, but Justin (J13) puts a wicked move on the ball. I'd guess he generates upwards of 115-118mph with the driver and has worked to compact his swing to about a 3/4 swing, not even close to parallel. He can move it for your everyday guy.

ROBO had a bad back the day we played so I never got a chance to really see him go after one.

Zak Kozuchowski can move it too. I would guess his speed is up near where Justin's is, but you wouldn't think it as his swing is so smooth. Looks like it's maybe in the 105 range, but pounds the ball, very efficient with his swing.
