WRX BIG HITTERS - Who is for real?

Mad, posters are starting to vouch for themselves and others of getting off topic talking about why they prefer to be shorter and in the fairway. How are we going to remedy this nonsense?!

I will be on dan carraher's (iteachgolf) launch monitor in a couple weeks. been verified on more than one trackman at 180mph+ ball speed. latest was local callaway reps at a 185 ball speed and avg drive at 338 and longest at 352 yards

hit is with so much authority
that when you find it
and it sees you, it is trembling.

Lets just suppose that this thread gives birth to a long and healthy list of WRX'ers who are verified to bomb the ball 300+ yards.

Then what?

Okay. :-)

He just graduated high school and will be playing college golf. Nice kid. I'm very honest about distances. Anyway, the first hole is a 350 yard par 4. Straight hole, but lots of trouble left and right. He almost drove the green. Puts the ball on the apron right in front of the green. Anyway, he hit three drives well over 300 hundred yards (he only played nine holes).

He also hit his 6-iron well over 200 yards (these were off the tee on a couple of "short" par fours). I hit 3-wood. ha ha!

there's a kid at my club who is 17, and hits the ball further then anyone i've ever seen. He's what you'd expect, like 6'2' 170lbs or something and has basically a great swing where he can hit it both ways. He's a college prospect and will likely end up going to a good D1 school. I played with him in the club championship last year and he hits it places i can't imagine. He has legitimate 300 yard carry. I've seen him hit it close to greenside on a 385 yard hole (the last 50 yards is downhill) . We also have a 540 yard par 5 that always plays soaking wet because the drainage is so bad, and i've seen him hit it with iron in hand.

We have a hole with a creek running through it at maybe 280 yards and it plays a bit down hill. I hit driver and if i hit a good one i'll be in the rough right in from of the creek but the rough will stop it. I've seen this kid fly the creek

If you don't like this thread, stay out of it - it's not that hard. If you don't like talking about distance, clicking on the WHO ARE THE BIG HITTERS thread probably wasn't a good idea.

The point of this thread is that everyone on here says they hit it 350 into a stiff breeze with an xxxxxstiff shaft on their driver, and some people are curious as to who can do it and who can't - a good way to find out is if others have played with them and can vouch for them.

People need to face it - distance is like dunking. Nobody shows up for a pickup hoops game and wants to see someone make 30 straight free throws vs. some guy throw down a 360 between the legs dunk.

It actually serves a great purpose. Those with bruised egos that always make snarky comments about how "everyone on WRX plays X and carries the ball 300+" can now see that people like us do exist. Just because they can't get a drive over 275 doesn't mean that we can't.

And yes, a lot of us drive the ball farther than a lot of PGA pros. Unfortunately, we don't have their short game.

There's a difference between talking about distance and long drives, and just mentioning names of those who can hit it far.

I can't honestly say that I don't like the thread, but by it's very nature it doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose.

I suppose that if someone want's to talk to another member about driving distance techniques, it might be good to have that discussion with someone who is WRX verified. So I suppose in that sense it has some value.

Maybe the folks who run the forum could create a "300 club" badge that goes near your name to signify that you are WRX verified as someone who can hit the ball 300+ yards. Just an idea...

Bragging, ego stroking?

That's kinda funny to me. I made it on the list because someone else added me. And not only did I not throw up numbers or comment on my swing or swing speed. I simply nominated someone else that I know pokes the ball a decent way.

I guess I just don't get caught up in it as much as others do. But I am curious to see who the thumpers are. So the thread does serve a purpose I mean jeez it's a golf forum.

And by the way I would give up every 300 yard drive for a 1.5 putting average any day of the week.

I've got some 300 patches from the old ABC days somewhere, back when all I cared about was bowling. Maybe I should sew one onto my Titleist hat. :-)
Yea but then I would have to post my 800 patch and really turn heads! ;)

The one thing I've learned is that there is someone out there that is always longer.

That is unless your name is Jamie Sadlowski or Lexington Steele...
