WRX BIG HITTERS - Who is for real?

MadGolfer76

Recommended Posts

Bombinbrian is a long drive pro who served as superintendent at our club for a few years. Brian is the person who got me hooked on WRX back in 2008. He could just simply kill the ball! He's been gone a few years now as he relocated to the Chicago area. I'm not sure if he is still involved in long drive contests.

Two straight years Brian brought some of his long drive friends to Nebraska to compete in local long drive contests that also helped raise some money for charities. I didn't attend the first year but helped Brian with the event the second year. That year I had the privilege to meet Brian Pavlet, who has already been mentioned in this thread. Pavlet is not just a long driver, he is one of the classiest guys you would ever hope to meet.

I will say kadin25 will hit it 280-310. Been verified in person. I arrived at the Trackman part of our fitting as he was finishing up. Dave Cordero says to myself and zak "you have a guy there swinging 117mph." Zak's response was classic. He says "he is on Golfwrx. What did you expect?"

Zak as someone already mentioned pounds the ball. I would put him around the 105-110 range. Sweet spot and easily carries 270

Nitram can pound on the ball too 275-290 from what I have seen in person. And is over 52 years young.

Youngwaldo as well. 275-290.

I felt very short when I had to be on the range with them and my 235-250 drives. But thanks to youngwaldo I am at the 250-265 range now. Lol

I've never played with anyone from golfwrx....which kind of sucks. Not that they would say i'm long these days anyway, unless 255 carry is considered long .........(crickets)
Well, let's fix that. Would make for an epic thread.

How far is Edmunston from you?

Btw, I never defined "Big Hitter." Totally relative concept. :)
Maybe we could meet somewhere in the middle?

I'm big. And I hit the ball. It just doesn't go very far. :-)
Let's do it! Mad and I are playing the Ledges in ME in July. Want to join us?
yikes! 5 1/2 hours! Where are you guys in Maine? Maybe we could meet somewhere in Vermont?

Is there anything to do near the course? Like something my wife would like too, resort etc...I'm totally fine to go somewhere for the weekend as we want to do that anyway, but it would have to be cool for her too
A lot to do in that area Jeff. York is a tourist type area. It would be a 3.5 hour drive for me...depending on how long it takes me to get through Boston!

He's not up there with the LD guys, but Justin (J13) puts a wicked move on the ball. I'd guess he generates upwards of 115-118mph with the driver and has worked to compact his swing to about a 3/4 swing, not even close to parallel. He can move it for your everyday guy.

ROBO had a bad back the day we played so I never got a chance to really see him go after one.

Zak Kozuchowski can move it too. I would guess his speed is up near where Justin's is, but you wouldn't think it as his swing is so smooth. Looks like it's maybe in the 105 range, but pounds the ball, very efficient with his swing.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Leif DscvrStlouis is long as well you can vouch right Hayzooos or Stage I think can vouch as well.

VTNerf Moves it pretty well. A recent round with him, he was pin high in a green side bunker on a 351 yard hole. No dog leg, straight ahead hole, verified with a sky caddie

Same round he drive the green of a 310 yard par 4 with a 3 wood, again a straight s*** no dogleg

And he just bought a new driver so I hate to see how long that one is!!

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Yup, Leif can move it too. Don't really expect it out of him either so he'd be the definition of 'sneaky long'. You wanna talk about a guy who knows his stuff? Leif was talking circles around me, it was crazy. Especially around putters, holy wow. No joke, I have no doubt in my mind Leif has forgotten more information about golf equipment than I've amassed so far in my lifetime.

The MuffinMan absolutely rips it. Ive seen him hit par 5's in 2 with driver iron where other guys need to hit driver- 3 wood- mid iron. Also seen him carry multiple 350- 380 yard flat holes on the fly after we laser the stick. In the Michigan amateur and USGA events I have caddied for him over the past 5 years nobody in his group has come within 20 yards of him off the tee. Most times he hits 3 irons as far as the other guys drives. He also competed once in a long drive event and i think he hit it 379 with a 45.5" driver.

The sad part is, I am no slouch off the tee. I swing about 118 and Muffinman craps on my ball on the fly on most holes... and he does it with a PINK driver :black eye: . He used to have this 9 iron he could hit 185 yards I swear to god. I think it was a Ping of some sort. I would put him up against anyone in this thread without a doubt.

Sean, you got me beat.
The longest I've ever made was about 80 feet on a course at Myrtle Beach with a huge green. Mine was 100% luck, aim in the general direction of the hole and hammer it! From the time I hit the ball until the time it fell in I think I had time to finish my taxes and read a novel, lol!

As far as Big hitters here, I'm sure there are quite a few considering a lot of you guy's are into the whole Long Driving contest thing! That was never my interest in the game. I'm more into how far can you hit the ball and hit 70% of the fairways to score! I'm more than happy with my measly 275 yard, 70% FIR average, but the big hitters are fun to watch when they can keep it in play!
I remember this kid in his early 20's I got paired with a couple years ago on vacation. Decent golf swing and he hit the ball near the 300 yard mark and was 20 yards ahead of me when he found the fairway. Problem was he knocked 8 balls O.B. off the tee that day. He was 20 yards ahead of me and I smoked him by 20 shots on the scorecard.
