I will never ship to Japan again. Ebay member kiichi55sato just scamed me out of $600 plus on a Napa Valley i sent him. I shipped the putter to him using a UPS Store, but my reciept isn't stamped so paypal is saying i didn't really ship it. His other negitive feedback he pulled the same thing on someone. Total scum bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow that really really sucks. Sorry to hear about that. Its a shame that this kind of thing is ever an issue, but unfortunately in this day and age it is becoming all to common.

Umm go to UPS and have them stop shipment. They have your number go back to that store and say the person didn't pay. You can get it before they drop it off. Go back and try and put a COD on it too. That way if he doesn't pay for it when it shows up then he doesn't get the putter. Hopes this helps.

Ohh maybe somebody close to him can pay him a visit! I would do it but that is a exspensive flight for a 600 dollar putter if it were a full custom Tour set from Titleist then I would do the trip for ya!

isnt paypal linked to your credit card company? can't you file a grievance with them? there is usually some form of insurance on credit card payments isnt it? at least mine has ... you might want to check.

 

generally when i get shafted by some idiot on ebay (actually three times when i bought what i thought were good quality dvd of some playoff games) i file the complaint with the card company and it is usually resolved there instead of paypal, which takes ages and they keep sending the same email to me (17 consective times by 5 different people).

I never keep any money in my Paypal account and only ship within the US. Paypal is much less likely to rule in the scammers favor if they have to foot the bill. I always get items insured and use delivery confirmation also. Oh and only ship to Paypal verified addresses too.

the thing with paypal is when you click that you agree to their terms, there are a bunch of little thing that you didnt read that state that you cannot sue them, filed fraud and other stuff like that.

If you don't have a credit card linked to your paypal...do it. I have AmEx and I use it if for any sizeable purchases. AmEx are bulldogs when it comes to rectifying disputes and getting your $$ back.

 

Paypal frowns on involving your credit company which is all the more reason to do it.

I've gotten quite a few items from the US and if it's worth it, I always ask for a tracking number and insurance. Not if it's only worth $25, but you get the picture.

 

So saying only to ship within US is too narrow I believe, I ship to the US (oh yeah I live in Belgium)

 

and never had any problems! But sometimes you have to pay a bit more for tracking and insurance.

 

But this way the seller and the buyer know where it is and if it has been delivered!

 

 

 

Back OT: Doesn't UPS have a receipt for delevering the package? They must have scanned it in Japan, no?

I'm pretty sure that all addresses outside of the U.S. are not Paypal verified. Paypal even recommends shipping only to verified addresses.

 

I've sold alot of high dollar items and have never had a problem by following my guidelines. They may not be what you want to here by being in another country but it's to protect my own arse.

Surely you sent a $600 putter via some sort of recorded delivery so that he had to sign for it? They may not have stamped your receipt but I would still expect UPS to be able to confirm that you sent an item to him that he signed for?

taking money out of paypal account is good but your account can go negative

 

always use a tracking # and insurance

 

 

This is what you do.... if he says he didnt get it then have it claimed and investigated by UPS. If they cannot get any info then you get the insurance value! I sold a laptop to someone and they took the money back and never said a word again. I couldnt contact them, nobody could, ups left it on the porch so I got the insurance money (wasnt fully insured) but I got something!

I agree you shoul dhave a trackng number right *&$@? so what is paypal talking about a stamp for, that has nothing to do with if you sent it or not. Did you declare a value on the putter? if UPS did not delivery it then file a claim, although it might be to late (anything over 15 days from shipment date).
