Pic of 8g + 11g SLDR weights + extra toe covers

Just picked up a 14* last week. Boy, the head does feel pretty heavy. At 45 1/2" is measured D6. I cut it down about an inch and it's right around D2 now.

I have a question for everyone here, I weighed my R11s and sldr on a kitchen scale. The r11 came out to be 311g and the sldr is at 315. The sldr just feels so much heavier than the r11 at nearly the same swingweight. Can 4g in static weight be so much of a difference that you can really feel it? I also have a G15 that weighs 305g and that one feels like a feather compared to this club. I think I am going to have to see if I can get a lighter weight and see how it feels.

I had my club builder pull the weight and grind it down a bit.....took 6 grams off the weight. This gave me a head that weighed in at D4 instead of D7, but it did sound quite a bit more tinny than before. I put a few cotton balls in the head and now it sounds AWESOME!! Just 2 jumbo cotton balls made a huuuuge difference in the sound this head makes. I am still tinkering with different shafts and will soon be putting a Speeder Tour Spec 6.2x in place of my Ahina 70x in hopes that it will bring the spin down a bit more as well as the swing weight.

I took my weight out and removed about five grams from it and immediately noticed a difference while swinging. I can make centre contact on the club face with greater consistency (granted, at a range only so far --- no on-course use yet this spring).

I suppose some can feel that small of a difference while others can't. Try it and see!

So is grinding down the weight the only way to reduce head weight right now? I would love to have a few different weight ones to swap in and out with different shafts. I just hope I don't take too much off and regret it. I guess I could always put some lead tape around the weight but swapping extras in and out like the old R11 weights would be sweet.

I haven't popped the cap off yet but is there already a screw under there holding the weight in? I wasn't sure if I needed to look around for one or not.

The screw you loosen to move the weight holds it tight but the weight can't be removed from the club without taking the toe cap off.

To do that simply blow hot air from a hair dryer for a few minutes on to the toe cap. Then pry the toe cap off by sliding a slotted screw driver under the cap from the direction of the weight track.

Here...here. If someone makes an 8gm weight, let me know. I am about ready to switch to a lower weight but I need to keep the 16gm if the experiment does not pan out due to spin reasons.

You could always shorten by 3/4s of an inch and get to D2 while gaining control without losing distance... My 2 cents!

The only seller I have seen on there has a product which looks terrible. Maybe it is better in the flesh, but he's kinda trying to replicate the blue on the finish

I think the blue ones are HEAVIER caps. I think you need the inside weight, which is silver colored.

I would like to find one of those that costs less than a bench grinder.

It does look bad I agree. But when I was going to buy one I figured it wouldn't see it under the cap anyways right? I didn't end up going with it though. Cut the shaft down to 44.25 and got my D2 swing weight

Confused.
So is the 16g weight that most are referring to under the toe cap or are you guys referring to the sliding weight?

The silver colored weight under the blue top cap, it's on the underside of the track. There is nothing under the cap but some double-sided tape and an access hole into the head for hotmelt application, etc.

So by lowering the weight of the sliding weight doesn't this impact how much bias (draw or fade) the club will have? Seems like going down from say 16g to 8g would lose its intended effect

That's been my problem with the SLDR. It was just too damn heavy for my taste. I love my 7A3 shaft & have been losing sleep thinking about going back to the SLDR from my Stage 2. I never tried the 7A3 in the SLDR.....

I thought this deserved a bump. I picked up an SLDR with a Fubuki Alpha 60x shaft from a fellow Wrx'er a few weeks back. I put it in the bag for a couple of rounds and thought it felt a little head heavy. Came across this thread and brought it to the local GG to get it checked out. Came in at stock TM length of 45.5", and...wait for it...D9 swing weight. Yes, D9.

Had them trim a half inch down to 45" and it now comes in at D6-D6.5. Will be calling TMAG tomorrow about possibly supplying a different weight to get down to the D3-D3.5 of my trusty FT5-Tour/Blueboard 73x combo.

I put 7 gram weight in mine (bought via Ebay) and I've gained yardage and am hitting the sweet spot much more consistently.

Update... Called TMAG today and came away disappointed. The guy said they have weights available on the tour van, but they do not make them available to the general public. They have no intentions of selling them because they don't feel there is a demand for it. The only suggestion he offered me was to add weight to the shaft/grip. I guess I will have to try to pick up a different weight on "the bay."

Probably a lot cheaper going the ebay route like I did as opposed to an actual TM weight.

Or you could just take a grinder to the TM weight and remove 5-6 grams.

In case you guys are curious, this is what a "tour weight" looks like in my driver. This was done directly through TM. If you look closely, there is an "8"

Billy Bobs golf is an online store. They make good stuff but saw last night all their sldr weights are already out of stock.

I found the other weight on eBay but, like I said, the one I got doesn't fit & im not confident about a refund....but I knew I was taking a chance when I ordered.

I had posted some screen shots before of the seller, but I think it got taken down for one reason or another.

Oh Banker, don't say that....I just got my 10g from kaimei10 guy from ebay but I was going to wait till my Elements Chrome got here before the crazy experiment begin. I only paid like $9 for the weight so it ain't a huge loss.

I'm guessing for $10 there isn't a huge QA department in whatever cave these are produced in.....

I've been in contact with the seller, we'll see what they do. I'll likely take a grinder to it & see if I can't make it work. I think it's just a smidge too wide to slide in the channel.
