There is an "11" on the side of my weight. Does anybody know if that means 11g or just a random manufacuring stamp? With the Protopype, the SW is D6, definitely more than I'm used to. Just bought an Accra SC 75 to try to increase flight. The pype is good, but why not try to get better?

I may just have to try this little trick if the SW stays up with the new shaft.....

You are lucky. You got a lighter weight. With screw and blue plate it comes to 15. I thought mine was a 12, but it is an 11. The other is a 7. The stock is a 16

I need to find me a "supplier" like some of you other folks seem to have...

Or fly out to California and rob the place. What's a guy gotta go to get some lighter weights any time soon?

@TMBOB

Unfortunately, the Accra shaft was not in good enough condition to use. The tip had been prepped by what looked like a pocketknife & one side of the shaft was flat as a board. My guy took one look at it & said there is no way it'd last in a driver head...... But managed to track down a T70 from Ebay for $40.....One of my all time favorites & just got a 10.5 head in trade for my 9.5......

Just need to get the SW down to a reasonable d3....

Stupid question but will trimming the shaft by say .25 reduce the swing weight to D2-D3? I think my SLDR is D7-D8 right now. I just can't seem to make sold contact and am hitting high fly balls (Legit pop ups). Do you guys think that is an effect of the high swingweight?

1/2" = 2 SW points. But I suspect that the stock shaft is counterbalanced, so the effect may be less. My guess is you would need to cut it to 44.5" to achieve the SW you are looking for.

That is the exact shaft I am using in mine. The KW is very tip heavy. I still suspect you will need to trim AT LEAST 1" to get it down to your SW. Alternatively you can do what I did (before I got the lighter weights) and backweight it with a 16g Tour Lock Pro counterweight.

Just received this today...

The smaller one is actually the heavier 11g weight. The larger one is the 8g weight. Different material. Not sure what each is made of. The stock weight is 16g. The screw and blue cover add 4g. One toe cover is on its back. As you can see, they simply stick on. I have been told that the official way to remove the toe cover is with a flat head screw driver.

Now I can finally get my SLDR down from D6.5 to a more reasonable D2. I had to add a 16g counterweight to get it to D2.

So I dont think this question was asked: Where did you get these and how can I get them?

Anyone looking to adjust the weight DOWN in their SLDR should look into sourcing a rectangular nut that is the correct thread pitch of the adjustment screw, or using a rectangular nut and a new screw that fits it.

For reference, a rectangular nut:

main_recnuts.jpg

They should weigh much less than the stock SLDR weight.

Another option could be a Strut Channel nut with the spring removed, A picture below for reference as well.

spring-channel-nut-2.jpg

Though for me with my machining background, I would prefer to simply Cut to length and then Drill and tap a piece of 1/2" steel stock to the correct thread pitch. If someone wanted to get me the thread pitch of the stock SLDR adjusting screw, I could manufacture a boatload of weights in different sizes and weights. Could be a better option depending on how long it will take the current weights to hit the market.

I was too impatient to wait for the sldr weight kits to be released....so I decided to take some weight off my 16g weight

Before

After

figured if i screwed up id just buy a replacement when they were available. its not like you see it anyway so the finish doesnt matter one bit to me

where did you get those from?
I did the same thing today.. Took the end cap off, took the 16 gram weight and ground it down till it weighed 8 grams.
Putting it back on the end cap was stil sticky but i added a dab of crazy glue.

It doesn't have that heavy feeling anymore....

+1. I did it a while ago. Never had a driver that preformed as well as the SLDR.

I customized my new JDM 430 SLDR with a GD AD DI 6x shaft and at 45" it is D5. I prefer a D3, so I removed the plate at the "Fade" end of the slider, and removed the weight and it says 16g.

I called TM CS and told them I would need a 12g weight to get my swingweight to D3 and they took my info. and are sending a 12g to me! :)

I believe a little double sided grip tape wrapped under that plate should be secure; if not drill a hole in the plate and secure with a lightweight plastic screw.

EDIT: Couldn't find a nylon screw in #4 Metric, so went with a ss screw..no plate. Perfect.
Trivia: The screw adds 1.4g; the plate is 0.9g w/o tape, so I can leave the plate/tape off and come out about the same with just the screw.

Just the screw and I am at D3 (instead of D5); screw plus plate and I am at ~D4. And the old 16g gets me another plus 2 sw if I want to go higher.

Wanted to bump this thread, and see if anyone has had any luck finding replacement weights for their SLDR? Mine is coming in at D7 with an Ahina 70x which is causing my spin to be higher than desired. I have been advised to call TM customer service and speak to someone there and possibly they could do something, but it thought I would try the weight thing first if anyone has a way to get them.

Yeah, but for $99........no thanks. Not for a weight, screw, and small piece of metal with a hole in it that probably costs a total of $2 from China.

I took a grinder to my 16 gram weight tonight --- it was quite easy to do.

Will have to weigh it tomorrow at work but I'm guessing, based on the amount I ground off, that I'm probably about 10-11 grams.

I figure if I'm a little less and want to raise the SW a tiny bit I will use an FCT screw to hold down the toe plate.

At D6 it feels a bit too heavy for me. Hopefully around D2-3 now.

Swinging it in the house it certainly feels a bit lighter now.

TM really is missing a good opportunity here. They could probably sell the different weights for $20 each (at minimum) and their cost has to be quite low.

Good lord, you're playing a SLDR with a ProtoPype for a shaft? Can you keep it airborne??!!

Great thread, might play with this. The pype is a totally awesome shaft, LUVED it in my old L4V-X head but right now, the Ahina is as low spin as the Pype but it is way smoother, imo.
