RIDICULOUS RATINGS and POOR PERSONNEL

Bought a TOUR ISSUED SUPERQUAD...what would you do??
O.K. bought a Tour Issued SUPERQUAD from a GolfWRX member a few days ago...this club was given a "9.75" out of "10" rating and I was told it was only hit a few times...
The club arrives and it has 2 scratches on the head, both noticeable at address. The first is a .25 inch scratch and the second is a .50 inch scratch...

As many of you know I am a reputable buyer/seller on this site with over 1000 feedback with 100% on Ebay...I am fully aware many do not like the rating system, but doesn't a "9.75" simply say I'm pretty much Brand New, come buy me and save money?? The thing I hate is that people aren't honest and you SHOULDN'T have to ask any questions about a club with such a High Rating...

I paid a lot of money for this driver and with the seller unwilling to admit fault with the rating he gave the club or even take the club back, which to me personally would be the ethical thing to do, I need some advice:

1. In your opinion what does a "9.75" out of "10 rating constitute...
2. If a buyer pointed out these flaws to you, and PERHAPS, they did go unnoticed, would you refund the buyer's money...

Thanks boys for the helpful insight...

9.75 to me means it has been hit a few times with zero cosmetic flaws (perhaps a teenie meenie scratch where ball meets face and nothign on crown or sole).

i'd refund the money, but since the seller was dishonest enough to give a false rating, i doubt you will find any success with a refund.

i'd expose the crook.

Purk,

I'm with you there. 9.75 should be mint. But when purchasing items it's always best to cover every base and ask all the right questions. But some people will still be dishonest. I bought a set of Adams tour issue from some bozo that were supposedly "New" on the auction sight. Clubs were played at least 10 rounds. The pictures he had on the site were brand new clubs with different grips then what I received. I brought it up to his attention, he told me he considered them "New". He then went on to tell me that the price was an excellent one, and what did I expect for that price ;) . Anyways, I flipped them the next day and lost $50.00, sold them as 8.5/10 I figured it wasn't worth the fight.

First of all, there should not be a 9.75

A 10 is new in the wrapper.

A 9.5 is basically new with maybe the slightest hint of one or two balls hit.

A 9.0 is like new but shows signs of being hit

and so on down the line with .5 increments.

I think you should give the guy a chance to refund your money,

or refund part of your money to reflect the condition if that is agreeable

to both.

If he dosen't do so in a timely fashion then expose him to the forum as a

person not to be doing business with.

Sorry this happened to you, it leaves a bad taste for all of us.

A "9.75" might have light face and sole scratching from a couple of rounds of normal play, but the crown should be pristine - not a mark or smudge on it. Otherwise, it ain't a 9.75.

Did you see pix of the crown? Sometimes a dirtbag will display pix from every conceivable angle except the one that might show a flaw.

Dear seller: Do the right thing. Refund!

paint blemish automatically brings the rating down below 9 in my book.

the guy clearly gave the rating to indicate LIKE NEW. To me his rating of clubs is a little off. Without question i would want my money back. Give him till tommorow night to remedy the situation and then expose him. He is trying to pawn off a blemished club cause he does not want it and misrepresented it to his buyers.

This is how it should be done, i copied this from golf bidder in the uk.

My vote would be for a sticky at the top of bst.

Head Ratings

10 New or Mint It may or may not still have the wrapping on, but the club has never been hit.

9 Excellent The head is only really shop-soiled and could almost be passed 'As New'.

8 Very Good The club has probably only played a few holes - it may only have been hit at the driving range. Either way, if there are any marks at all on the head they will be very light.

7 Good In the case of irons, there may be scratching from sand or dirt but no major chips. Woods will have no very obvious sky marks or chips and the face will be in good condition. No buyer will be disappointed with clubs described as ‘good’.

6 Fair In perfectly usable order but cosmetically not quite deserving of a 'good' rating. There may be minor stone chips in the case of irons and possibly light sky marks on woods resulting from normal wear and tear.

5 Well Used Iron heads will either have obvious chips and/or will not be up to much cosmetically because of age or misuse. Woods will probably show sky marks. For any clubs rated 'well used' we will normally elaborate as to why in the description.

4 Very Well Used In very poor condition. We will normally elaborate as to why in the description.

Which method of payment did you use? I would first offer the seller the opportunity to come to a mutuallly agreeable resolution, if not successful, then expose the seller as unscrupulous w/ a history of all attempts to resolve.

It should be basically new, just not in the plastic and I'd refund the money or partial refund until the buyer was happy.

Not sure if it is the same as the item you are selling on ebay, but you rate item on ebay as 9.9999.

You then go on to say it has been hit 20 times to test launch angles. Based on feedback on this

topic, it appears both of you may have rated too high on a number scale. I would expect 9.9999

to be new.

Not trying to upset anyone, but that is the problem with just a number rating. I like that you describe your club on ebay has been hit 20 times, which would indicate it is not new to a buyer. Nevertheless, you give it a 9.9999 numerical rating.

9.75 maybe hit a couple times on the range. But deffinetly NO scratches on the crown! I would refund money, or make it right. If he doesn't make it right he should be pointed out to everyone as a bad seller. I don't understand why people have to abuse the great situation we have, it's very disapointing! As for some of the comments above i hope that isn's the driver you are selling on ebay. One last thing, didn't find anything in the rules of this site. (i could have missed it) But is there a 3 strikes your out policy? If not maybe something to consider?

Consider yourself lucky you got the club!

There's an entire group of members on here trying to get their money or equipment from a member named CrippleCreekPro, who evidently elected to fleece every member possible within a three day period two weeks ago.

In all seriousness, if the seller has a smidgen of character, he'll take it back. based on his actions with the club, however, your chances are slim and none.

You need to expose the member, as this is the only way we can stop this kind of crap on this site.

Easssy and Gxgolfer are working on our situation, but they certainly do not have time to police this activity. It's up to us as members to keep this site clean.

Good luck either way! To quote Bill Clinton..."I feel your pain!"

9.75 wouldn't have any marks on the crown for sure. If any marks, I would say very minor on the sole and virtually perfect face. My 2c
