How does it sit on your back when carrying it? Is the bag (mostly) horizontal or down around a 45* angle? I have a SC Journeyman bag that I'm not a fan of how it sits

I LOVE it.  I've walked three 18 hole rounds now with between 8-11 clubs in it and have zero complaints.  Well, one complaint is that there's no room for holding water...but that's a reach complaint.

This is hard to figure out a half set or maybe I am over thinking it but trying to cover some longer yardage holes and figure equal gaps between most clubs.  Thinking about the following but I think there is too much loft gap going from the 4H to the 6 iron!  I am a mid handicapper and driver distances is about 220 yds, 6i maybe 150.

Driver (Ping G5)

4wd 17 deg (Ping G15)

4H 21 deg (Ping Rapture)

6i 29 deg  (Cobra Oversize 1994)

8i 35 deg  (Cobra Oversize 1994)

PW 43 deg  (Cobra Oversize 1994)

SW 56 deg  (Cobra Oversize 1994)

Putter

I do have an old Adam's Idea Pro 23 deg hybrid that I could put in between the 4H and 6i and that would bring me to nine clubs.  Any comments on setup?

Me - Driver 10 degrees, 5,7,9,G, 7 wood (21 degrees), 54 Edel wedge and a putter.  That’s my set up for a local hybrid 4500 yd course and I love it.  Going to experiment on a full 6700 yd course to see what happens.  This approach has certainly helped my iron play particularly as it relates to hitting partial and in between shots.

I go D, 3H, then 6, 8, etc. since moving into players distance irons (P790s) and the gapping works pretty well and allows me to play a true half-set.  Previously had 5/7/9 with more traditional lofts.  My distances are similar to yours, maybe a tad more.  Yardage gap is more important than loft gap.

On Fridays I go Driver, 5 hybrid, 7-GW and putter.  Have a Cobra Ultralight Sunday Bag.  Seems to be all I need for my local course.  I could probably drop the 8 iron and pw, but there are a couple holes where they prove useful depending on where the Tee is.  Very freeing.

The extra clubs I lug for my Sunday round, I seldom use.

I've been using the Callaway Hyperlite Zero double strap stand bag for a couple of years.  When the box was delivered it was so light I thought they forgot the bag.

I'm currently carrying D, Heavenwood, 5H, 7,9,P, 52 degree and putter.  I do have  a sizeable gap between the 7 iron and the hybrid, but I don't find myself at that distance often.

As a fairly new golfer I find this concept intriguing. Partly because when I began I ran through lists of "most used" golf clubs in your bag and  started putting a bag together using that. ThenI  migrated over to the "I think I need another club for this and for that". That's where I am now and have about 16 in my bag.

Next time I go out I'm definitely going to take a better look at what I actually use and start dwindling back down. For some reason I can't hit my hybrids well at all but have no problem with my lower irons like 4's and 5's. Using the logic above maybe I'll just part ways with the hybrids all together.

Finally got my set where I want it (8 clubs). Added the hybrid this season and it is long! Might work between 8-10 clubs to fill the gap. Going with:

D - Ping G410 LST 9*
3H - Titleist TSi 2 18*
5i - TM P790

7i - TM P790

9i - TM P790

50* - Ping Glide 3.0
58* - Ping Glide 3.0

P - Ping Anser 2

Why is that driver Righty and all the other clubs Lefty? Am I missing something here? Otherwise, sweet setup.

Update my set to this

- M5 driver (shortened)

- Cobra King 24* Utility Iron

- Cobra Forged Tec X8 iron

- Cleveland Smart Sole Chipper

- Cleveland Smart Sole Sand wedge

- Ping Fetch Putter

suddenly remembered that golf is/should be about having fun, not about having the lowest possible handicap

One really interesting observation - I’m yet to hear someone say “my scores have gone way up since moving to a minimalist setup”

This is the beauty of it.  Dropping 5-7

clubs from the full bag doesn’t seem to hurt scoring for us mortals and allows for more fun/enjoyment.

True! While my scores have gone up lately, it has little to do with the clubs I’m (not) using, but my lack of playing golf.
I was referring to my own obsessing much more about the scores themselves. When I focus on having fun, fun happens. When I focus on scores, not-fun happens 🫣

I was doing really well with my 10 year old son's bag, a driver, 6 iron, wedge, and putter. Felt like a nudist, and it was fun.

After joining WRX, and spending another 5k on a full set of new clubs, perfectly gapped wedges, tour bag and trolley, my game has never been worse !

Having said that, when obsession calls, what can you do ?

That's a start - it's a alot more than a good walk spoiled- though

We usually play in summer a 3 club strokeplay comp which is a lot of fun.  And there is also this cool guy whose birthday is on November 4th (spring here) and he organizes an anual "4 clubs on the 4th at 4 o'clock" 9 holer and barbecue after.  True, we have a lot of fun, you need to be creative and there's no stress since you don't expect the perfect outcome from the shots.  I think I should adhere to this trend.
