Titleist NXT Tour

For the last two rounds, I've played the NXT Tour and it appears that they fly very long and with a nice high trajectory. I'm very impressed. Prior to these weeks, I've been playing the Callaway Hex Chrome, but they seem to fly shorter than the NXT Tour. The NXT's don't bite much on the green, but then again the greens were hard as rocks where I've played the last couple of weeks.

My question is, how many of you are playing (or have played) the NXT Tour? What has been your experience with it? I'm seriously considering making this my ball for 2014 (and maybe beyond). Thanks everyone.

I like them when the greens are soft or shaggy, but not enough spin on firm greens for me, great winter ball if the courses are open. I did play some good golf with them last summer when it was really hot and my course was watering the greens excessively to keep them alive, and I do like the ball flight and distance, just don't plan on any low spinning wedge shots with them.

I've tried them off and on over the past couple years. My experience is they're a couple yards longer with the driver but woefully lacking in short game stopping ability when compared to a ProV1 or Lethal. For the price Titleist charges I'll continue to buy whatever urethane ball is on sale vs the NXT Tour. Plus I save a couple bucks.

If the NXT Tour had the spin of the Hex Chrome, I would be in heaven. I'll likely still play it this year, I just wish it had a little more spin. I'll just have to see how it performs over the next couple of rounds. Maybe the greens will be a little softer than they were these past two weeks.

[/quote]Try the NXT Tour S. Softer and spins more. Love that ball, but I think Titleist is over charging for a 2 piece ball compared the rest of the market. Would game the Tour S if it were cheaper.

I played the NXT Tour for a while and it performed well. However it seemed high priced for a 2 piece surlyn ball and I was lured away by the Gamer V2. The Gamer Tour at $25 and RBZ U in the low $30 are better than the NXT (for me). The NXT Tour was OK right around the green but the less expensive urethene balls have improved my score.

It appears that new balls are coming out soon, so I might test a few urethane balls to see which works best for me. I have actually played the RBZ urethane and the hex chrome and they both spin nicely.

I've played both the NXT Tour and the Hex Chrome. Can't say much about spin because I couldn't spin if I was a NASCAR driver on an oil slick. But, both brands have been good for me. I prefer the NXT Tour, though, since it seems to be more durable than the Chrome, and I generally score better with it. Price isn't that much of an issue with either. It's easy to find both on eBay in AAAAA shape at decent prices.

I finished off last season with the NXT Tour S yellow ball. Really enjoyed it as well. Doesn't spin like a Pro V...but not everyone needs or wants that kinda spin.

My ball of choice as well! Great feel and consistent, and not as spinney as the ProVs. I was playing TP5s until they went to the Lethal. Have not had too many problems with them not biting or checking up...Great Ball!

I play nxt tours the majority of my rounds. I hit the ball high and have plenty of spin so I find it to be a good ball for my game. I also purchase the majority of my balls used, AAAAA mint. So the pricing concern is less for me.

I moved from mainly playing Bridgestone E6s, which I sill often play. My one complaint of the E6 was the occasional flyer, especially in warm temperatures.

I have not seen anything yet on the 2014 nxt tours, however I have not exactly looked.

Last year I was still playing the 2010s mixed in with the 2012s. This year I already have over 120 2012s stocked.

Any information on the 2014s that can be posted?

There's been a lot of buzz about new NXT Tours for 2014. Let's see what improvements are made.

I wonder if they are going to add urethane???

Im a huge fan of the NXT tour-s. Feels softer and has more spin than nxt tour. Excellent durability and has enough spin for me with the irons and around the green.

I agree with the comments that the NXT Tour is what would from any other brand be an inexpensive Surlyn ball but Titleist sells them at nearly $3/ball and seldom discounted which is a bit much. Perfectly fine ball but the same performance is available elsewhere for 20, 30, 40 percent lower cost.

I may need to try the S version too. For those of you who've used both the NTX Tour and the S version, do they have similar distance and trajectory? That's one thing i like about the non-S version. They fly high and long.

I've played both. Basically the same characteristics, except a little more spin on approach, on and around the green, and feels softer to me off the putterface.
Adequate spin for me. Not that "pull the string" BS that seems to be a concern among some. I really like their yellow ball. The only improvement I can think of would be a urethane cover. Then... I'm not sure.

I found that the Tour and the S have extremely similar distance and trajectory. The NXT Tour may be a little bit longer, but I’m talking like 2-3 yards. And, as others stated, the S does generate a little more spin on half wedge shots.

The big difference is feel, as the S is noticeably softer. I play the S when the weather is below 60 degrees as I like the softer feel in cooler temperatures.

The new NXT Tour is now on the Titleist Website... Looks like not much has changed... other than I am getting the impression they made it softer???
