Game Golf tracking system (merged)

Used the Game Golf App today on my iphone 6.

I still used my Game Golf device like normal.

The app took a few holes to figure out, I didn't realize I had to pick the club prior to hitting the shot, the mistake I made was teeing off with my 3W, then when I arrived for my 2nd shot I pushed 3W. So it made it look like my 2nd shot was with the 3W instead of the 5i. After the 3rd hole I figured it out. The only issue I can see with using both is, once I completed my round clicked "end round" on the app then got home and uploaded my round from my GAME GOLF device it then showed 2 rounds as "pending for review". The nice thing is they both seemed the exact same which is cool, I don't see why they shouldn't be (unless I forget to tag a shot or something) but I just reviewed the round from the actual GAME GOLF device and signed it, then deleted the one the GAME GOLF APP posted for me to review.

So I'd watch out for that, it will make you think you have a duplicate round if you use both the device and the app for the same round.

I like the APP it does everything Golf Shot or other distance apps do. It shows front/middle/back yardages, allows you to move the cursor around to get lay-up distances or other yardages.

It did seem give my phone battery a workout. I started the day with 100%, when I started my round this morning I was probably near 96% remaining, when I finished the round I was at 49%.

All in all, I'd use it again.
Ya this is the biggest reason I am still going to buy the device. My phone was at 100% on the first tee and at the end of the round it was like 35 or 40%

Forever Changing at this point.......

Thanks.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what was going on there, it showed my screen locked and wanted me to swipe it to unlock it but if I just pressed the + it would open back up and allow me to add a shot/club.

I'm not sure why it says the screen is locked when it's really not.

The other thing that would worry me is we sometimes like to use pandora or imusic when we play, blue-tooth to a jawbone, if we had both apps running I'm sure it would make short work of the battery on my phone.

I had a career best today. I only missed one tag! Slowly it's becoming part of my pre-shot routine.

This is a great system.

I think I can honestly say that this system has helped me to improve my game significantly, more so than any other device, training aid or club!

Since I bought it in November, I've used it to log 17 rounds (I think). It takes a few rounds for the club stats to become really meaningful as you need to register enough solid shots to get the median yardage to where it should be, but once you're there, knowing that yardage is invaluable. I now look at every single shot from the point of view of how far I actually hit the ball on a regular basis, as opposed to the maximum distance I've hit a particular club (No more of that, 'Iknow I hit my 7 iron 310 yards, so why was I short?!!!' rubbish).

On approaches, the 'Insights' feature also comes in very handy as before I was hitting pretty much 100% of my approach shots close from less than 100 yards, but between 100 and 150 yards, everything was short. Solution = club up. Result = more birdie/par putts.

Now that the weather is improving I've had some opportunities to actually play in decent conditions and I've shot my three best rounds ever in the last month or so (86, 86, 84). Playing off of 21 (20.6), on Sunday I won my first medal of the year with a net 63 (par 70, SSS for the day was 71). I've now been cut to 18.1. My aim for the end of the summer is to play off a maximum of 15.

Whilst I know that it is still down to me to execute the shots, I honestly believe that having this system gives me the added confidence that I'm hitting the right club. Yes, I do still miss tags here and there (usually on tap ins), but the review system makes it quick and easy to correct.

I would recommend this system to anyone! :)

You sound about the same level as me. I've logged 6 rounds, best being +14, +14 +16, +17, +20, +21. I'm playing off 16.6 (although I think that will be cut after my +14 on Sunday).

My GameGolf tag is AndyPGG.

This is true. I really enjoy going through a good round and looking at how far/straight I'm hitting (some) of the shots. I won't share numbers least someone quickly accuse me of passive bragging, but I was very surprised how far I was actually hitting all clubs. Being 63 I didn't expect some of the numbers GG was showing me. I was starting to feel real good about myself until I threw up all over the course today and posted the worst score I have shot in literally 8 years. This game has an amazing way of bringing you back to reality.

If anything it's the other way for me. I've discovered that I hit the ball about 10 yards less per club than I thought I did. I don't mind so much though because far as I'm concerned, I'd rather hit a 5 iron to 10 feet than a 6 iron to 30 feet any day! I'm definitely hitting the ball more solidly now than I was last year and seeing the improvements in my scores, which is all that counts.

I've only got about 4 rounds on my systems so far, but am lovin' the feedback. I just wish I could always remember to tag. I seem to miss the drive most of the time, but when reviewing the round, it seems the system "detects" the missed tag and let's me know during the review.

I'd like to know how the system "detects" a swing. In the winter, when playing alone I was hitting two balls and only tagging worst ball, but it seemed a few times to "detect" a swing that I had to delete when reviewing the round. Anyone know how that works?

supposedly you can turn that off, but i have yet seen where (i may be blind though). It basically has a sensor inside of the unit that can "feel" a swing. Great thing is that once you do a tag, it will only show one shot so it wont have like three shots for practice swings and real one.

Bit of an unfortunate incident today.

Since switching grips to Golf Pride Wrap 2G Midsize, I lost both the 4i and GW tag!!!!! They must have unscrewed themselves in the bottom of my golf bag and fallen out of my bag.

EDIT: After coming home and cleaning the clubs, the tags can be pulled out of the grips very easily... :angry22:

I guess the Tour Wrap 2G have round butts instead of flat like the Niions I was using earlier.

I really don't want to use glue on the tags to keep them in.

Does anyone know if I can purchase the tags separately?

Try using plumbers thread tape. I put several wraps on my putter tag when I put the Superstroke on and it was a perfect solution. Might have to experiment with how many wraps, its very thin/pliable but it seems to have solved the problem.

Out of curiosity, but has anyone considered installing the tags *under* the grip? I imagine a situation where you set the tag in the deepest part of the grip, regrip, and never worry again. Thoughts?
I would definitely never recommend that under any circumstance. Or imagine it was even possible...???

I don't see how they'd fit under a grip unless you take the tag apart and yank out the RFID.

By the way, this list of players on here BEGS for GameGolf in creating a "Group" feature where if you belong to a group, you automatically follow everybody else.

Then they could have a stats page which summarizes the players in that group. Maybe handicap, average drive, gir, fw, etc.

Played my first round today with the Game Golf tags installed, and did find myself forgetting to tag my club before playing a shot. A little bit of work editing my round after I was done, but absolutely love seeing all of the stats when finished. One of the better golf related purchases I've made in a while. If anyone wants to follow me,

Well, there is the little matter of the 30 MPH gusting tail wind. I don't think that really came into play though. I mean, I do post on WRX don't I? Notice the sweet three putt of an eagle putt? The story of my life.

I am sorry if this has been posted about prior, but this thread is massive. I live in Oklahoma where its just plain windy and no two days are alike, ie. the first hole at my home course faces straight north, and a good driver will put me between 180 yards to the green with wind from the North and 60 yards w/ South wind. Would there be any way to tag certain rounds "North Wind" or "South Wind" so i could easily lump those subsets of data together. I am looking hard at purchasing one pretty soon, but thought that might skew info unless i made some sort of log which i could do, but doubt that would be done 100% of the time.

I read most of the thread, but not all so I apologize if this is covered elsewhere. Has anyone had this happen to them when transferring an 18 hole round? Rather than 1 18 hole round, it's broken up into smaller rounds of 1-6 holes each. The name of the course alternates between "Golf Club" and "Golf Course." I emailed GG about it.

edit: Support fixed me up. The course was mapped in the system twice, so it kept switching back between both versions of the same course. He deleted one and all is good now!
