Who are the best online golf instructors?

Looking to take an online lesson.

I really like George Gankas GGswingTips but its only videos.

or anyone have his subscription?

Lots of good options out there. I'd start with any of the following:

Monte Scheinblum

Dan Carraher (iteachgolf)

Jim Waldron

Dan Whittaker (DFW1500)

Chris Ryan

I can only vouch for Dan W. myself as he's the only one I've worked with, but a cursory search on this forum will show that other guys have had stellar results with both Monte, Dan C and Jim. I'm sure George Gankas is very good too.

Honestly, if you're committed to improving, I don't think you can go wrong with any of these guys. Take a look at their stuff, see which one chimes with you best and throw yourself in head first.

OP, an easy way to approach this is to sign up for a lesson with a couple (I'd suggest Monte and iTeach...no disrespect to the other names above who are probably also good choices) and see which style you like. Small outlay, and online lessons aren't long term commitments (unless you sign up for something more extensive off the bat which I wouldn't recommend). Chances are, both Monte and iTeach (Dan) will make similar observations but they may present it differently...and the only one who can decide which is better for you is YOU.

Try them out. Cheap as chips, but can be priceless in other ways.

Grinding away aimlessly on the range, struggling, frustrated versus following some good guidance, seeing and feeling some improvements is priceless.

Tame the biggest problem, then tame the biggest problem, then tame the biggest problem. If most folks "fixed" or improved 3 most harmful issues in their swing they would see HUGE benefits.

I like GG and Athletic Motion Golf

I can't say enough good things about Monte, great guy, great instructor and keeps it very simple, plus he does clinics all over the country so depending on where you live you may be able to squeeze in some in person time as well.

However, I have been following GG as well and he does offer some great information and has a slightly different take on the swing. I find him very informative but he is a little too hyper for my learning style.

1 more name I would throw out there is Andrew Rice. I have been watching his stuff on instagram and youtube lately and he has a lot of good info as well.

I know there is a lot of love for the others wolf listed but I tend to gravitate towards Monte and GG. Not saying they others aren't good as I know they are just personal preference. Bottom line is you have to find someone who you can understand and communicate's well with you. Might be Dan, might be Monte, GG, whomever. But if you go with one of these guys, you will definitely be seeing a top notch instructor. Just don't be foolish and tweet Hank Haney a swing video lol.

You can get a free partial online lesson from Bobby Lopez.... He is pretty good at diagnosing problems, but not so much at how to fix them. Worth a try to see if you like the free one and pay from there if it helps.

More recently GG after seeing him on Me & My golf.

Right now I'm following Dan Whittaker and some ben hogan stuff that I can read or watch....but........

I am going to set up a series of lessons with a local PGA pro in the coming weeks and go from there...I need someone to physically be there during my lessons.

In the past, I followed Shawn Clement, around 2007/9... then I left the game for the next 8 years.

I haven't taken a video lesson or in-person lesson from any online personalities.

But from the YouTubers, I'll second Shawn Clement. He is just a great teacher and communicator even if he does beat a dead horse sometimes and seems like a swell guy.

Can he take a 3-5 cap WRXer down to scratch like some of the other guys? Probably not. But I'm pretty confident he could turn a 15-20 cap weekend duffer who knows nothing about club positions and ideal launch conditions to high singles.

I haven't taken a video lesson or in-person lesson from any online personalities.

Anyone can turn a 15-20 cap into single digits. It's literally about practice and not shooting yourself in foot at that level

I have been a member of Wayne D's site for years and I have taken 2 lessons in person. I really enjoy his perspective and analysis pointing out flaws and possible/attempted fixes.

However, my two in person lessons have not really provided any help because my club and body did not want to do, or move in a direction Wayne suggested. So observationally he diagnosed my issue(s), but I was not able to get closer to a fix.

My in person lesson with Monte took him about 5 minutes (or less) to diagnose and he suggest 1 simple backswing move to help correct other top of swing and downswing issues which had an immediate positive effect. The one back swing thought/motion put the club on a better backswing path, which put me in a better top of swing position, which reduced my down swing early extension, which helped get the club to exit more left, and all equaled more consistency and increased distance.

Hard to overlook former tour professionals that have been under fire as an online source, that's what I look for. Bradley Hughes is good, Elkington's good in a limited availability sense, John Erickson is good.

That’s interesting. I’ve never actually talked to somebody who has taken a lesson from him. I do enjoy his analysis.

Mark Crossfield I find excellent for challenging 'the norm' and providing a great source of common sense 'fixes' for the most common issues.

I'd be interested in all the posters above who have actually used the people they mention - either in person or video analyses - to see what actual real world improvements they have made and kept? i.e handicap reduction, consistent fairways/greens hit, or just consistently much better strikes etc

My biggest issue is excessive body movement. Here’s my go to:

Plenty of good suggestions above and you can get a taste of each on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram and alike. Go with the style of swing, teaching method or vibe you are drawn to most.

I went with Dan Carraher in line with the reasons set out above. I’d recommend him for sure. His knowledge and explanations are far beyond what I’ve received in countless face to face lessons over the years from regular club pro’s.

I’ve still got plenty of work to do to end up where I want to be, but Dan has me trending in the right direction. Very happy with the progress.
