I'm not sure how many of you will be able to watch the Australian PGA this weekend, but if you do manage to catch a glimpse, please don't be alarmed at the life-size dinosaur statues scattered around the course.

Yes, dinosaurs.

Apparently some of them are even "in-play".

Clive Palmer, although extremely wealthy, has a massive soft spot for entertainment!! And this is just that!

What a great way/excuse to take your kids to watch the golf, they can marvel at the dinosaurs and you can marvel at some quality golf, with great weather!!

This awesome! Changing it up, while still keeping to the games integrity is genius!

Fun fact, Clive at a his christmas party for a refinery he owns, gave 50 of his best employees a brand new mercedes and overseas holidays!! That refinery didn't even do that well!!

I'm pretty sure Clive Palmer didn't get where he is in life by being an idiot.

He is very generous with his money and doesn't mind spending it on things he believes in. I don't agree with everything he does, but that doesn't make him an idiot.

Eccentric? Yes.
Do I like/agree with what he's done at Coolum? Not particularly.
Idiot? Definitely not.

And in relation to your last point, "Clive Palmer is an idiot" gets about 45 thousand hits on Google. "Obama is an idiot" gets 67million. "Albert Einstein is an idiot" gets 133 million. I'm not sure the number of Google hits is a very valid way of supporting an argument.

In high school they had a two man best ball at a local course and they had a huge dinosaur in the middle of the fairway and a fence around the green. Fun stuff.

Just read the article. It appears there isn't "dinosaurs", they're not "scattered around the course" and they aren't "in-play".

There's one dinosaur. It's between the 9th green and 10th tee and from my memory of playing there, that's nowhere near being in play.

Exaggerating to try and make the case more convincing doesn't help.

You're correct. Some advertising signage has been spray painted on some of the fairways. The majority of it isn't "in-play" as such (i.e. in landing areas) but my understanding is if your ball does end up on a painted area it's treated as GUR. I watched today's telecast and didn't see anyone requiring relief, but it may have occurred off camera somewhere.

I think it's there to stop the pterodactyls from cr*pping on the course.
