Those are gorgeous! What did you use to strip the raw black?

Just placed an order for a TVD 54K and 60M in black ion, S400, 1* flat, +1/4", Z Cord. I was only going to do 0.5* but realized I wouldn't really notice such a small change, so I went with the full degree and if it doesn't work out, they're just as easy to bend as a forged iron.

Took the black finish of my SM5's today as per the instructions earlier in this thread.

Really happy with how they turned out. Not totally blotch free, but I don't mind that too much and think it gives each wedge a little bit of character. The raw finish looks great in person and is undoubtedly going to wear a lot better than the black.

I have been playing the Vokey Oil Can SM4 54-14 & 60-10 wedges with some custom grinds. I knew from testing that I liked the more consistant spin on new SM5 60M over my SM4.

Thought I'd share, here are my new wedges going in the bag, a new Oil Can 54-14 with custom sole grind and thinned down top line, and the Raw Black 60M after a LCR Bath and polish.

I like the more traditional hosel blend into the head of the new 60M over the more rounded hosel of the 60-10.

The 54 has trail relief and toe and heel relief so it will play closer to a 10* bounce. From the first short game sessions tonight, these are going to be great!

has anyone tested a SM4 vs SM5 with similar groove sharpness? I want a SM5 but the black nickel is my favorite finish

I'll add some substance to my club choices.

I lost distance on full shots, (sometimes 8 yards in on course testing) with the 54* into the wind with SM5 grooves over my gamer with SM4 grooves. (Too big a gap from the PW). SM4 is less effected by wind on full shots. SM-5 will bite the cover better and lower-flight the ball green side if you want a low spinner. SM4 has ample spin at this loft for my game

In the 60*, he SM5 had fewer lofted shots release when grass gets caught in the grooves at contact. Nearly pre-groove spin without destroying the cover of the ball. Subtle head-shape changes make the SM5 series more playable as well. Accuracy.

Late to the party, but here. Fell into a free wedge fitting yesterday (thank you Miles of Golf promo) as I am in the market for new wedges. Being a lefty sux at times, but I was able to hit a few different OEM offerings. I really enjoyed the fitting. Got to hit full shots, partial shots, pitches and chips. Hit off grass where divots were analyzed. Hit off a lie board for bounce analysis. All shots were done on trackman.

Ended up going with the sm5 54/10 bent to 52/08 and sm5 58/08. Both M grind. That grind suited me the best on both full and partial shots. It really shined on pitches and chips to 20/40/60 yard flags on the range. Nice spin action on these. Both wedges are 2* flat. The feel is just fine to me, but admit I did like the feel of the Mizzy (t4) wedge better. The Mizzy wedge wasnt as good with turf interaction though.

So, 9 months after they come out, they go in the bag, just in time for the season to end! Fail.

I am playing SM5 ,52 f 12 bounce and a 56 10 bounce M grind, both in Crome finish. The finish has come off the bottom of my 56 so I am getting a good trade in and have ordered the 56 in S grind.I have nowhere close to try the wedges outside and the place I could go charges you around 75 bucks to get fitted.
I hoping the S grind works for me,just comes don't to a squarer sole look and the numbers on the sole rather than the toe.If I don't like the S grind I could always sell it and go back to the M.Anyone played both grinds in a 56 and there thoughts.

I tried all the different grinds and the S works best for me. I was even having success with the 60* and I've never used one before. I actually preferred the gold finish to the others. If I was to buy I'd be tempted to go with a 50F-54S-58S or 60S.

I'm begging for the regional Titleist rep to have someone S grind a 50 degree. I pick the ball off the turf. I've never been able to pick it as cleanly as I do with these.

the S is the best grind for me too. Almost like a full sole without all the bounce.

WAKE UP!!

question, looking for the best grind for my swing. I'm a sweeper (no divots) and play on medium to firm conditions around the greens. looking for a 54 & 58 SM5 in a few months. I think it needs to be the lowest bounce available for my type of swing? I normally don't take full swings from either wedge. 58 is mainly used for flop and sand (sand is normal) and I can work my 54 pretty good to whatever I need around the greens. I'm thinking S or M grind?

I currently have vokey design spin milled 54.08 & 58.04 from about 3-4yrs ago. next will be color choice to go along with my new 714 AP2s. tour chrome or raw black.

I don't always play in firm conditions. it's mainly medium where I play, firm is only at one course. 54.10M and 58.04L? those few months will actually be this weekend when I buy them. hope to hear from others.

my new short game weapons and i LOVE them. i was going back and fourth on the raw black and tour chrome. the raw black was nice but the tour chrome was slick. i knew it would look good in the bag next to my new 712 AP2's. i wanted to send them to vokey wedge works for some snow stamping, simply freestyle dots but don't know if i want to pay ~$25/each for that when i can try it at home. i may try it later.
