Collarless Golf Tees

I think Duval and Tiger broke the mold on that one many years ago and it was suddenly OK to go collarless. Don't get why it would become an issue now

I dig the blade polo. Bought two of them. If I’m going somewhere I don’t know if they’ll allow them I always have an extra shirt in my car anyway that has a collar.

My take is when you're a guest at a private course, you should dress and act as inoffensively and politely as possible - the last thing you want to do is get your host in hot water or embarrass him. And, as you can tell from reading some of these posts, there are some really uptight courses and members.

 

So for me, it's boring golf pants/shorts, TUCKED IN traditional golf shirt, golf belt, golf shoes. Also, make sure they're not rumpled...which isn't really a problem anymore with today's fabrics. Nothing that would stand out or be cutting edge, fashion wise.

 

PS. When Bob Goalby won the Masters in 68, he was wearing a short sleeve mock turtleneck...at ANC...go figure!

Some places with golf shirt requirements specifically state on their websites that blades are OK. Personally I never liked wearing golf shirts anywhere; the only ones I own were gifts or bought just for course wear. Most got donated away to Goodwill etc. I don't like the feel and hate the flapping collar around my neck and frankly I look pretty dorky when I wear one. If I have a collared shirt on I prefer to wear a tie. Most of time I can get by on the course with a zip vest or top over a nice performance top, as long as the temps aren't too warm. Just zip it up for the swing.

Wore the Nike blade collars at the Greenbrier without problem. Check the pro shop if you're wondering -- chances are even these nice courses carry them with the course logo -- if so, you are good to go

 

Tons of courses sell t-shirts in the pro shop too, but they won’t let you wear those either. I’ve bought Nike t-shirts and a Travis Mathew t-shirt at different courses, but I know without a doubt I couldn’t wear them at either.

Anyone besides Nike making these in a tech/dri-fit material? I'd like to find something similar but less expensive to wear under 1/4 zips that make up the bulk of my casual wear (dad uniform) as well as golf. I know my club doesn't mind them, I've played there regularly with just a t-shirt under a 1/4 zip, including with the club pro and other guys from the pro shop.

I loved rocking the mock tees in the late 90's; wish I still had them. Not a fan of the henley collars though.

Old mock tees were cool, don't understand why they went out of fashion.

I played golf this weekend with a gut wearin' a belt that cost more than his M3 driver.

In a weird coincidence, after reading this thread the other day I was looking through the discount rack at the local shop and found a genuine TW white short sleeved mock tee for 80% off. It said shop soiled but was clean. Guy in the store said it was marked down cause it was old stock haha.

For $20 AUD it's my best find in a while.

I will be rocking it this weekend.

I really don’t much care what anyone wears. I figure if it’s within the course’s dress code then it’s good enough for me.

When I play a nicer private course here in the Twin Cities like Minikhada, Minnesota Valley, Bracketts, or even a nice public course like Edinburgh, Legends, or Meadows, I'll wear a collard shirt. Otherwise, I'm a t-shirt guy. Love dri-fit shirts from Nike, Puma, and Adidas. Who cares - you want my money or for me to dress a certain way?
