Really don't like black clubs, they get messed up pretty fast and make the heads look even smaller than they already appear in chrome. Hopefully they do a satin/chrome release soon after these launch.

Any word on wedges??

I am sure some forged tec black users can chime in on this but the new diamond black finish is much different and more durable from what Ive read. Ive also seen quite a few used sets of forged tec black and they dont look bad like the other black sets

I'll chime in...I've had my Forged Tec Black since they came out & I've played roughly 25 rounds this season & been to the range another 15-20 times and besides one club having a little wear on the sole...the rest of them still look like an easy 8 out of 10. The black finish on these clubs is outstanding. None of my faces have any wearing of the black as of now, and only have a few minimal ball marks. Cobra has the best black finish out of any clubs I've seen or tested.

i will say that my finish on the forged tec black and wedges has held up amazingly well for the environment I play in. Typically by now they would be what we all hate with a black finish.... random splash spots/"scratches" over the face... i have very minimal showing of wear on my irons currently. The DMB or whatever it is called is legit.

Forever Changing at this point.......

I would expect some type of update but as cobra dues, may not be huge.

I'm fine with just a DBM finish head as an update. That would be on par with this irons update from history.

That’s exactly what I want

Unfortunately just from previous posts/discussions I am pretty sure that will not be in update to them. I’m not sure why as I think it looks stunning in the finish holds up very well as stated before. I would assume it would be more of a change in shape/weighting around the head.

But of course I could be very wrong. I have no inside information on that standpoint.

So, what are the differences between the CB heads and the forged tech heads in their construction?

Everything.

Seriously, they don't share a single dimension or construction process outside of the fact they are both irons. Offset, loft, topline, sole, length, height, completely different heads. FTEC is a two piece iron, CBs are one piece forged. FTEC has a sound badge on the cavity, CB does not.

Black finish on mine is holding up really well. Of course our soil is not sandy.

I've been playing the original King Pro CB/MB's the last two seasons, have probably 60 rounds and countless practice times. Aside from my most used clubs, I would compare the wear to that a non DBM club that has been lightly demo'd in a simulator; and we are known to have very sandy soil/ranges where I am.

My black MD4's have 10x the wear showing and I got them mid way through the season this year.

DBM = bomb proof

Meeting with my rep tomorrow at 9:00am. I did, however, learn this morning that the adapters on the new wood line will change. Damn....that sucks. I have a pretty extensive shaft collection with the old adapters, and now I won't be able to use any of these shafts without changing the adapters out.

So how did this meeting go?

Ok everyone.....meeting went well this morning. Found out quite a few things. Obviously it looks like the cb/mb announcement came before I could get here. F9 drivers look great. No more F8+.....just one head with three different loft options. Found out that the old F7/F8 adapters will fit new heads, but new adapters are labeled differently. They now say STD, +1, -1, +1.5, etc. The three different loft options will have the standard lofts as 9.0, 10.5, or 12.

Drivers and fairways have a similar look as before but they've added two "turbulators" on the back of the crown. The driver will have 2 color options. (See catalog pic) Fairway woods look almost identical to F8 with the milled face added this year. Hybrids are a black matte finish and look much better IMO than last year. Several of you asked about the KING Forged iron. Unfortunately this club has gone away...they felt like Forged Tech was a better fit for that gap and the King Forged was not needed anymore.

Here are some pics from the catalog....enjoy!

So no more draw bias for those that need it? What did they say about the driver in general?

One of the other differences between the color options on the drivers is the white bottom'd head has a matte black top to it, and the yellow bottom'd head has a gloss top finish.

Awesome thanks for the info

What are the stock shafts on the drivers? I think I read Helium on your pic

So no more draw bias for those that need it? What did they say about the driver in general?

Correct on the draw bias....other than that there will be a draw setting on the adapter as before. Seemed upbeat about it.....of course he is selling the product. I thought it looked great, and I am rather picky when it comes to aesthetics. Has a similar look to the F8 but the turbulators are a little more subtle....especially the one with the matte finish. Head shape is very similar as F8. He did mention that they were putting more effort this year than in the past to get the driver in some tour player's hands. They weren't necessary looking to sign anybody, but they were going to attempt to make that happen. Wasn't clear on how. He did also mention that Gary Woodland would most likely sign a wood deal with them, as he just inked a PUMA deal with them. He also mentioned that they were working with Koepka, but who knows how realistic that was. He did NOT say that they were signing Koepka, so let's not start a rumor!

That speedback tour fairway looks great!!!

It did, but honestly it looked exactly like the F8+ to me.
