I've said this before but I'm thinking F9 driver will be a pass. Maybe I need to see it in person first.

F9 fairway with stock ATMOS? Let's talk pre-order.

Was thinking the same thing, will wait and see when someone inevitably compares F8+ to the F9. This is making me think the F8+ is a smoking deal right now at $299, but I'll wait for the head to head youtube videos. Only difference I see besides cosmetics is the lowered CG which in theory would increase dynamic loft and decrease spin? I don't know how much more of an advantage the F9 driver design gives you over the F8(+). Maybe the only difference is about $100?

F8+ is a smoking hot deal right now. It can be had gently used for far less than $299. Absolute steal for an absolute bomber.

Callaway (OG) Rogue SZ

TS2 Fairways

JPX 919 Tour (4-PW)

RTX4's 50, 56

Bummer on the Forged Tour irons being discontinued. From the AMP Forged to the Fly-Z+ Forged and to the Forged Tour was a great ancestry/run of irons.

Spoke with Cobra CS and they said they aren't going anywhere. Said the catalog was just introducing so much new stuff that marketing left them out for space. No updates or refresh though and he said he enough custom inventory to last another 6+ months so no massive selloff or discontinuing on the horizon.

Actually this person might be wrong. TGW just reduced them massively by $300 and they are pretty up/up on the pricing trends, discontinuations, etc. They were the first online group to discount the Ping i200s when nobody else really knew they were being replaced.

Meeting with my rep tomorrow at 9:00am. I did, however, learn this morning that the adapters on the new wood line will change. Damn....that sucks. I have a pretty extensive shaft collection with the old adapters, and now I won't be able to use any of these shafts without changing the adapters out.

So how did this meeting go?

Ok everyone.....meeting went well this morning. Found out quite a few things. Obviously it looks like the cb/mb announcement came before I could get here. F9 drivers look great. No more F8+.....just one head with three different loft options. Found out that the old F7/F8 adapters will fit new heads, but new adapters are labeled differently. They now say STD, +1, -1, +1.5, etc. The three different loft options will have the standard lofts as 9.0, 10.5, or 12.

Drivers and fairways have a similar look as before but they've added two "turbulators" on the back of the crown. The driver will have 2 color options. (See catalog pic) Fairway woods look almost identical to F8 with the milled face added this year. Hybrids are a black matte finish and look much better IMO than last year. Several of you asked about the KING Forged iron. Unfortunately this club has gone away...they felt like Forged Tech was a better fit for that gap and the King Forged was not needed anymore.

Here are some pics from the catalog....enjoy!

-Chris

Can you show the catalog info on the F9 one length irons??

Not really...try hitting them and work on the swing. Even the 3 is FUN-AS-HELL to hit!!! First set of irons in a long time where I can’t wait to pull out a long iron to crack.

2019 catalog pics of the woods and hybrids. Red and yellow colorway. Turbulators. Milled fwy face. Only one driver head with sliding forward weight and fixed rear weight. That was it in a nutshell.

I don’t think there was a sliding weight, think that’s just part of the paint scheme.

Pretty sure it was. I think it even stated it in the literature. I could be wrong though.

just releases something HOT clean and low spinning King Ltd pro 2 with an abundance of no charge shaft options and 199.00 price point and they could change the game and win for a season .

And make no money at the same time. Super idea.

What's the difference between that or selling most of your inventory at 50-60% off on the sale rack at the end of every season. The difference is that they'd be in control of it for a change and they'd get the product into people's hands in large numbers. That's something they've been unable to do for some time now. It's not the product, it's the approach that they're failing at and it's time to do something radical to distinguish themselves in the market. It's that, or throw in the towel already.

I think that the Cobra Connect/Arccos grip/system should be an option. Not everyone, me included, wants that grip, Arccos or no Arccos. At this point, Cobra and Arccos are the main beneficiaries of this technology and valuable data collection, at the players' expense. Of course, at some point, this database will presumably come back around to improve golf in some big way, but I'm sure we'll be charged for that again when the time comes. Since they're using your data, you should get some sort of break on the price rather than an upcharge, no? I mean, GolfWRX is free to use, right? It's free because the data and the target market they've corralled is valuable enough to pay the bills (I hope). The F9 will definitely not be free but I agree with another poster that they should put Cobra Connect on every F9 driver, offer all the usual grips and premium shafts, and charge $250-300 for the club. There's plenty enough profit in a premium driver to absorb something like that and call it "customer acquisition". They'd have a line out the door. With Cobra's sales as they are, why on earth wouldn't they try that approach? That price point along with carpet-bombing social media would be a sure recipe for a best selling driver. Of course, I don't know if the club is any good but, at this point, I trust Cobra's engineers. They've put out pretty much nothing but great performing, quality equipment at a great price in the last decade. I'd just love to see someone step out of line and do something like that.

I heard Ping is offering Arccos in special orders for next year, wondering what they will charge?

They’re the typical MBs brothers. Very little forgiveness in them but they are teruffic clubs. I’ve owned 3 sets. The tungsten in the bottom will help but I’m going to assume only minimally. I like the $ taper shaft but it’s not for me as I just naturally am a low spinner and have been having a lot of good like the the c taper lite on my jpx 919 tours.

Cobra is looking so hot right now. Cobra

It already is an option. They offer a at least a dozen grips from multiple vendors in Connect or regular versions.

Cobra woods are already cheaper than the main competitors, even with the Arcoos. Where do you see it being an upcharge?

I think if they undercut the price of Taylormade or Callaway by 50% then they run the risk of being misidentified by casual consumers as a sub par brand. 10% cheaper is being price competitive, being 50% less is saying you should be in the bargain barrel at DSG next to the 2 year old Top Flite product.
